If that's the video of the crazy woman going on about thanking god for dead soldiers.. She's a nut.. They were suppose to come up to a soldier's funeral here in Maine a month or two ago.. All of me and my friends attended the funeral with bad intentions if they showed up but they didn't.. You've got your freedom of speech, but I also have the freedom to kick your fucking ass.

I'm amazed you people are just now finding this out and the Phelps family. I've been forwarded that video probably 10 times and each time I'm less surprised by the bullshit coming out of her mouth. Huh? What's Iowa got to do with these assholes? They're based out of Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, KS. The church has a little less than 100members, around 80% of which are all related (through 5 family names). Fred Phelps is the pastor and half of his kids are church members while the other half have basically disowned him. She is not a real christian. Sorry, but real christians do not condemn others for their short commings. My mom is EXTREMELY religious, and NEVER once have i heard her say i hate fags or anything of the sort. We are to love eveyone as JESUS does and PRAY for others shortcommings, not condemming and judging them. That's GOD's job. How arrogant of this woman to believe that she has the right to do these things and spread lies. Yes god may be displeased with gay people or soldiers, whatever. But surely she does not have the authority to speak for the almighty himself. Moreover the fact that she would go to such a sacred event as a funeral and protest, and then blatently declare that her 1st ammendment rights are bein violated by not being able to protest near a PRIVATE function? How dare her. Ironically, who is fighting for the rights which she feels have been violated? Honestly i think that woman is posessed. Rather than condemn her we should all pray for people like that, because they are spreading lies.

Although i do congratulate the news guy for ripping her just because they call theapart. I also love the part where he says he's a christian and he says no you're not. Who is she to tell him who he is? People also need to realize that mselves "westboro baptist church" does NOT mean they believe in god (or anything). Hell for all we know they could be doing lynchings in the back yard and still call themselves a church. It's sad because it gives rightous christians a bad name. The sad part is that her (or they) truly think they are doing the right thing.

The last thing that gets me is the signs they're holding. One of them says "god is your enemy". A true christian would NEVER display a sign like that, period. Yes we are told in the bible to fear the lord, (as in respect him and stand in awe of his power) but it does not say he is the enemy, we are to love the lord (if we chose because we have a free will), and he loves us, no matter what. I don't believe that god hates. Who is the enemy then? take a guess :devil: Who do you think is spreading the lies using god's name and decieving people? yep.

Oh yeah another thing, the fact that she protested the holocaust and hates catholics and jews. Not only is that sick, but what was jesus? Oh yeah, he was a JEW!! His people were jewish. The catholics (aside from muslims i believe) make up one of the largest religions in the world. Go figure that this lady hates all of them. Honestly, i'm going to pray for this woman.

I find this all kind of amusing. I've been following these assholes for years through their pickets and and escapades in bigotry. They even picketed my old community college because a pianist giving a performance there had AIDS (from a blood transfusion, if memory serves. He was straight). They all believe that god created AIDS as punishment for mankind. This same woman has appeared on TV many times before saying pretty much what she said in that Hannity and Colmes interview but somehow now it's all over the place. Where was everyone's outrage when they were picketing funerals of AIDS patients (gay or straight) or just outright bashing gay people? Where were all these talking heads when they went to Matthew Shepard's murder site to place a plaque that said that Shepard entered hell on such-and-such a day at that spot because he was gay (their site even has a counter telling you how many days he's been in hell)? But speak against the troops and the whole fucking country is in an uproar. Don't get me wrong...I think she and her whole congregation are certifiably insane and I don't agree with a single word out of her mouth, but why does one group deserve more consideration for our outrage than another?

The problem here is certainly Westboro, but it's bigger than that. It's the bible itself. Everyone has their own biblical interpretation and, ironically, if taken in a literal sense, Westboro's interpretation of the old testament is probably more accurate than most. God was pretty pissed in the old testament. Their crutch is, of course, the book of Leviticus...particularly chapter 18 verse 22. This is the crutch of anyone who hates gays on the basis of religion and is too fucking cowardly to just say they don't like gay folks. Someone needs to make a bible that cannot be open for debate. I mean the book is all about parables...ways to live a good life. I highly doubt much of it actually happened. I mean really...do you think god struck down Job with disease and boils just to prove a point? Doubtful...but it provides a great story on the basis of faith. Same goes for Samson, Noah, Moses, Cain & Able, Abraham, etc. If all of their stories are truth then they're all pretty much going to hell but god still casts his favor on them. Make sense? No. But I digress. Someone needs to stop the Phelps'. I don't care how. I'm sick of them and all their bullshit.
