So I have a little problem with the way I see men treating women. I can't get over the amount of dis respect that we as a society have for women. Now don't ask me why. But I just find that women get no respect. They are used for one thing, and one thing only. Blah blah blah. Sure it's nice to have sex and it's nice to be young. But it's getting to the point where it's pretty much pissing me off. I have to worry every time I go out about the girls I've went somewhere with because they are either getting mauled, molested, or litterally sexually abused. Guys grabbing their tits, asses, crotches. I think it's pretty sick. If you can't go to a bar with out grabbing a woman where really, you have no place to be grabbing, you should stay at home. What every happend to treating women with respect?

Two words...rap videos

Yeah, it's those damn Rap videos...
Seriously though, I've felt this way for a long time. While I can fully appreciate the beauty of a woman, I don't understand why men as a society would act the way they do towards them. It is one thing to look and joke around with your friends, but when you get to the point of unwanted fondling and invading personal space it becomes a very serious issue, IMO.
On the other hand, maybe women have to stand up for themselves more. I know it isn't easy when they are outsized but I think self defense classes for women are always a good thing. Maybe it's just a sore subject for me right now, I don't know.

I third rap videos. Its one of the reasons I stopped liking "pop rap".
Treating women went down the tubes when it stopped being ok to slap them... As bad as that sounds, think about it...its pretty much true. Not that Im saying that was ok either...just pointing it out.

You guys are right. I think pop rap does have something to do with it. Pretty degrading if you ask me. I think women in a whole have to stand up for themselves. I think it's at the point now where it is no longer sexy. But degrading.
I think it also depends on your background. My back ground comes from a family where my father demanded that I respect my mother and women in general. Now I'm in a para military school. Where you MUST show respect. I've learned respect. And until the women of our socitey start respecting themselves, they are not going to get any back.
I also think the term respect in general, is on it's way down the shitter.

i agree with you guys, but its alot deeper than just rap, but thats definitally a breeding ground for it to begin. it does come down to respect and if you have it.

It goes a lot deeper then rap. I'm not saying that's the number one aspect. I guess we also could say pop culture as well is destroying it.

rap videos are a major problem but I also think women let it happen to themselves. They dress like sluts and therefore get treated like them.
We can all agree that a woman in revealing clothing is nice to look at but I would feel weird if my woman dressed like that in public. With the move to show more and more I think its like a dog chasing its own tale. The sad thing is I believe its the women who pay the biggest price. When you encourage LUST you get undersirable results.
Leave the grabbing, rubbing and sex to the bedroom and/or with a loving couple. Take it off tv and get those rappers to rap about something worth listening to. We can stop the black culture, its too deep in our society. It would be nice however if people showed respect for one another.
What I still can't figure out is how this is all allowed to happen. When did being a PIMP become a good thing and a tough guy can beat on anyone/anywoman and still be 'tough guy'? 50 years ago a PIMP was dirty and men who beat women got what they deserved. Maybe it was how I was raised but I dont stand for those things.

it's actually the womens rights movement.
In a society where woman are considered equals I think that LOTS of guys who are disrespectful as a power play with other guys apply the same act towards women.
Pop culture in general DEFINATELY has a lot of influence... but I certainly wouldn't blame Rap... that's like saying rap is to blame for violent crimes like muggins and stuff... that's just stupid...
ALL of these things existed in the past... it was just that OUT IN THE OPEN it was shunned...
The same man who in the fifties would beat a guy for touching his wife... probobly beat his wife at home.
These threads pop up all the time... LOOK the world has NEVER EVER EVER been an honerable nice place to live... the majority of humans in the world have ALWAYS been SHITTY SHITTY PEOPLE. It's just a matter of how in view that shittiness is.
If you ask me women have it a LOT better now a days than they did even in the recent history... in the 60's, 70's, and 80's women were seriously just objects to do with or to what you wanted.
Now smacking/grabbing a girls ass is unacceptable... (to most) where as in the 60's->90's it REALLY wasn't considered ANYTHING.
Sexual harrasement wasn't even something a women could charge against an employer till the 90's.
Think about THAT... you can't believe that out in a club with DRUNK HORMONE FILLED TEENS that one of them would grab a girl... FULL GROWN 40 year olds used to MOLEST girls they worked with in an OFFICE 20 years ago.
You could comment on womens tits at work.. they had NO rights... If you're shocked by going out to a place filled with drunken morons and encountering a DRUNKEN MORON then I'd say you're kinda looking for something to complain about.

P.S.
How is it that rap videos are ANY worse than 80's metal/hair band videos???
The rap now is some how more misogynistic than 2 Live Crew was???
Does ANYONE on her remember what the 80's were like? there were practically naked tits in EVERY movie made in the 80's. The budweiser girls were their TOP promotional piece... advertising in general was borderline pornographic.
I guess the only difference you could say is that the Rappers tend to have more of an angry dis-respect for women than the 80's "playful" dis-respect.

Are you fucking kidding me man????. So when I go out with a gurl. and we go to a club. and a guy walks up to her and rubs her cunt and walks away, I'm looking to complain about that? I look to complain about my friends/gf's/or now ex's getting sexually molested? That's fucking wack man. And so is your reply.
And no I don't remember what the 80's were like. My parents really didn't think it was appropriate for a child to be exposed to shit like that. I was raised to respect women.
And I never once said that rap was the root of the problem. Because it's not. Look at the first post I made, there is no reference to rap. And I even state that it goes a lot deeper then rap. So don't turn this into what it's not.

Yeah it's apretty gross word. But no more gross then a guys running around randomly grabbing girls there.
If a sober guy grabs a girl in public. He gets arrested. In a club he walks away? It's ok to do it in an inebriated state?

Well...the reference to rap and rap videos was only half joking, but I do see a direct correlation between the two. In the 80's hair metal bands glorified women as sex objects. While it's certainly not respectful, I don't see how you can compare it to a video or song in which violence towards women is frequently mentioned in an almost casual way. Tell me you haven't noticed that the rise in popularity of rap (especially among retarded suburban teens) hasn't correlated with the replacement of the word "woman" or even "girl" with the word "bitch" (and yes, I'm well aware that such terminology has been around for a long time, but it's become incredibly more pervasive). Yeah...the 80's were pretty sexually exploitative, at least as far as movies and ads went, but that doesn't mean the 90's or this decade were/is any less so. It's just more subversive. It's just that these days people get their panties in a twist when they see something as sexually suggestive as...say...Paris Hilton washing a car while eating a hamburger. And god forbid you see a nipple during the halftime show at the superbowl. That's like swearing in church! Maybe if people relaxed a little our attitudes towards sex and gender relations would relax as well. If anyone here has ever been to Europe then you know commercials on regular TV frequently feature nudity. I don't see Europeans getting nearly as worked up about shit like this.
As much as it pains me to do so, I have to agree with Rob that some girls out there have brought it upon themselves by the way they dress and the way they carry themselves (it doesn't pain me because I agree with Rob, but rather to make that connection:D). So many girls grow up believing that they can get by in life on their looks alone and there are millions of men out there just waiting to prove them right. That's not to say that if a woman is showing some skin that she's just asking to be mistreated...far from it. But if a man can't make the distinction between admiring a woman's body for what it is and feeling the uncontrolable urge to fondle her, he has ceased to be a man. Statistically 1 in 3 woman will be sexually assaulted in their lifetime. So if you have a mom and two sisters...well...you do the math.

this is kind of related and not really. But i used to listen to rap a good ammount, and then i stopped listening for like a year, and i started listening to the shit that's current right now and i'm like :wtf:
rap lately is so SOOO shitty. Like really bad. Least in the mid 90's it had some style to it. Now it's just abnoxious and it's really gay if you think about it. And yeah probably contributes to the downfall of society and all that jazz

You are a testy little bitch aren't you?
Did I direct the rap comment at you???
Here's what I think your REAL problem is... You're a pussy... some dude grabbed the girl you were with and you didn't have the balls/brains to do anything about it... so now you're crying on the internet.
Since you obviously can't handle the fact that I may have addressed other comments than your own I'll go ahead and deal with JUST your first post.
A. "Society" doesn't disrespect women... we actually live in a time that "society" has basically FORCED even those who don't want to, to treat women with respect.
B. To say women are "used for one thing" is so goddam narrow minded and rediculous I don't even know if I should bother commenting... I interact with probobly 20 different women on a daily bassis... ONE of those is used for the "one thing" you mentioned... and I would call it "using".
C. Yes you DO infact have to and ALWAYS have had to worry about drunken dudes grabbing or hitting on your women... Frankly 20 years ago dudes WOULD NOT have been arrested for broad day light grabbing a girls ass un-solicited (unless she was white and he was black). FROM THE CAVE MAN DAYS men are programed to compete for womens attention.
D. If you encounter people who are molesting and sexually assaulting people every other day WHY DON'T YOU DO SOMETHING???
- Encourage the women to press charges
- Make a scene in the club you are at to point out the scumbag
- Kick the dudes ass
- Tell the management of the club
- You could even stoop to passive aggressiveness or revenge if you know the responsible party or can manage to pull something within the evening.
You have TONS of options... YOU are CHOOSING not to excercise them.
When I lived in boston dating my wife she got hit on all the time and people made comments all the time which frankly as long as they're not obscene I don't really care and neither does she... but if/when someone grabbed her I made it PERFECTLY clear that shit doesn't fly and 99pct of the time the dude responsible realizes he did something inappropriate and apologize on the spot.
P.S. despite what your parents might have thought sexually repressing a child and stigmatizing nudity tends to negatively effect normal sexual development.
The number of rapists in repressive societies are generally higher than those of sexually open societies.
I'm not turning this into anything I responded to posts... that's all.
I don't recall saying that dudes should be allowed to molest chicks when they're drunk... Actually if I were with a girl and some drunk dude grabbed her crouch I would make a scene and if he didn't apologize I would CERTAINLY encourage her to call the police and have him arrested... because someone who thinks that's ok to do in public would probobly be willing to do a LOT more in private.
You ARE responsible for the world around you... people are NOT required to make you happy... people do terrible shit all the time... and when people don't DO something about it they get away with it and do it again.
That's what's wrong with political correctness... it's the assumption that you and everyone around you should worry about what's going to offend the next guy... Bullshit... if something offends you say something or shutup. If someone does something wrong to you or someone your with DO something or SHUTUP.

First off. Dont ever call me a pussy. You don't know me. You don't know anything about me. To say I don't have the balls/brains to do anything about it is redicilious. In fact. I brough this topic up on behalf of someone else. I was speaking to someone about it and this person and I were talking about it and it was mentioned that maybe it would be good to be posted. I've been in plenty of fights and have stuck up for plenty of women. I however can't fight right now being the position I'm in. And being that I'm 600Km away from any girl I personally know becuase of school. I know I have ton's of options. And punching someones face in and breaking my hand over a guys head was one of them at the time. So I would say damn right's I exercised my options.
I'm not going to start internet fighting and threatening you and shit. But dude. Don't ever call me a bitch or pussy or anything along those lines. You have not one ounce of knowledge about me or anything I've ever done.
I realize what your saying. And yes you are right in a lot of those aspects. I would never let a girl get treated that way. As far as my parents sheltering me. No. They never did that. You have to realize that I wasn't in my teen years in the 80's. I was a child that played outside and played at the beach played sports all year around. So don't say that I was sheltered and insinuate that I'm going to grow up to be a rapist. That's just fucking twisted.

Half of the mean spirited response here was a retaliation for your mean spritied response in my corner light thread.
I hear what your saying in your post and it bothers me too but frankly you just can't let it...
All you can do is everything in your power to make sure that obviosly you aren't like that and that noone around you is either or if they are they know it's not acceptable.
I truly do believe that people should press charges with shit like that because those dudes ARE NOT going to stop there. They don't understand inter-personal relationships so they just assert their desires on un-expecting/willing girls.
Anyway you're not a pussy I was just being me.
