Well tonight I sat down to watch Jet Li's final period piece film. He'll still make movies, but there won't be any more period pieces. This seems fitting since, out of 36 movies, period pieces make up about 90% of his resume. According to Li, he feels he's done about all he can with the genre. I can't say I disagree, since he's played just about every influential martial arts figure in Chinese history. The new film, "Fearless", catagorizes the creation of the Jing Wu school of Wu Shu (if you've seen "Fist Of Legend", you'll remember Jing Wu). It's an incredible movie that isn't just martial arts (although those parts kick incomprehensible amounts of ass), but a bit more existential view on life as a whole. It hasn't been released here yet, but after "Hero", you can bet Quentin Tarantino is pisisng himself so he can slap his name on this somewhere even though he had nothing to do with it.
