I have a b16a in my crx. I have recently come across a GSR motor for a good price and was wondering if it is worth the trouble to swap it. I know the gsr has about 18 more ft/lbs of torque and 18 more hp but isnt the gsr a bit heavier. And isnt the head a little taller because it is in a crx. I think if I do it the hood supprost will have to be cut or ill have to ge a cowl hood. Just wanting some opinions.

and no

keep the b16, the head flows better and you won't have to deal with the gsr intake manifold. add a type r manifold or of the same design to your b16 and upgrade your cams and valvetrain and you'll not only have saved yourself several thousand dollars, but you'll be light years ahead in performance over a gsr motor

does the b16 head really flow better than the gsr?

only at certain points...in reality, they flow pretty much the same
compression with the gsr head is higher, of course

I say, if you can get the gsr block, do it, then sell yours and maybe come out even
If its all or nothing, forget it

What have you finally decided to stay with? I am interested to see all advantages and disadvantages. Please also tell your experience with the choice you made. Sometimes you can read a hundred reviews somewhere on the Internet. But they are not helpful until you come to a forum with real users who tell real-life experience. I am from https://populationstat.com/france/ and find this forum great in this respect.

the main emphasis in the design of these power units was made not on low cost and average quality, but on durability and reliable use. It was in the engines of this series that the VTEC system was first applied. B16A consume about 6.6 liters per 100 kilometers. The B16 impresses with its incredible reliability.

I also recommend keeping the b16, its totally not worth over the B18.
