Here is an email I received from some department of my school. It was part of their bulk email thing that goes to all students. It reads as follows:
NOTICE
Due to the stadium construction and the consequent loss of blue parking spaces on Joplin Street, the parking lot behind Grubbs Hall (formerly a brown permit lot) has been split. The West portion of that lot remained brown but the East portion was changed to blue permit parking. The lot east of the Physical Plant on Lindburg Street has also been changed to part blue permit parking (the west half) and part brown permit parking (the east half). Please take notice of the signage to determine where you can legally park.
We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but thought it was the best solution for all concerned.
Blue parking spaces are for teachers/faculty. Brown spaces are for students who live off campus (like me). Please note that the last line there wasn't originally in bold...I did that to highlight the bullshittery. We have some of the worst parking here of any university I've ever seen...and university parking for any school is notoriously bad for students. So, with that in mind, how is this even remotely close to the best solution for anyone besides teachers who already park right in front of the fucking building? God forbid they park with the students and enjoy that rigirous mile long walk to their rooms. Also note that there's really no way to park "illegally" on campus. If you park in the wrong place you get a ticket from those dim-witted campus "police" and it only goes through the school.
I'm so happy this is my last semester here.
