Does anyone know the actual numbers that a LS/Vtec will put out. I know there are a million diffrent things such as intake exhaust....etc etc. I am just wondering if stock you put a b16 head on a b18 block what would it put out?? The reason I ask I am thinking about doing it and am just wondering about the hp/tq.

we need MissJDM for that
Where are you LYNA!?!?

yeah where the hell has she been lately? i know she was building a nice little set up

i think it can vary anywhere from 170-190HP, but like you said there's so many variables, (intake, header, tuning etc)

I really dont know if she decided to keep it or not....

I think Steve talks to her regularly. Any input?

lsvtec makes around 160-170- but high tq. thats the purpose of the hybrid is tq instead of hp number.

Yeah, actually. Man...I can't believe how hard I rule.:D

Last I heard she was having some wicked bad computer problems. She wanted me to help her fix the bitch, but I haven't heard from her in about a week...so who knows? Next time I talk to her I'll ask her and post it back up here if she can't get on to do it herself.

So if I put pistons, skunk2 pro series intake, full greddy exhaust, chipped ecu, and bore it to 81.5 you think it would put out about 180ish hp and 140ish tq????

might. i would assume you would come close.

Honestly, I think it would be closer to 160 and 140, maybe more with ctr pistons

depends on how high you rev it too

and depending on how high you decide to rev get some oil squirters.

Even since to b16a has 160 stock? I know the tq will go up a good bit but why wouldnt the hp? I mean after boring it to a 1.85 lt the hp has got to do something. I am also going to run higher compression pistons.

ok running higher comp will help.

but the head makes the hp, not the block.

torque is gonna be similiar to a regular ls engine, with a slight bump due to the increase in compression. unless you increase the displacement.

Never concern yourself with what an engine is stock, because those are engine hp numbers...whereas you will be working with wheel hp numbers during your build.
A b16 makes closer to 135whp, not 160.

Forget about squirters too, just use aftermarket pistons. As long as you dont take it over 9K, you'll be fine. LS cranks are brutes, and if youre messing with pistons, dont leave the stock rods either...thats just silly imo

.5mm oversize isnt meant to be a displacement increase, it is used when the cylinder walls are scratched during rebuilds - it wont net you any power.
Were you looking at ctr pistons/similar or more dome? If youre contemplating boost still, forget anything that will increase compression! Look at flat top pistons instead (wiseco is best for the money) and should give you ~9.5:1 with a b16 head

^yep. Back in 2000, we dynoed an Si fresh off the lot and only made 135whp. An LSVTEC can make between 140-180whp depending on piston set-up and head choice. The magic set is the B16A and CTR pistons yielding almost 12:1 compression with adequate torque.

Pat, those gauges looks sick on your dash!

thanks!:)

Really, Im surprised it was so close to the 15% loss...I guess that number is used for a reason :D
