It's "better" because they have a lot more active members that actually post information that is both useful and interesting. I'm not saying that our posts aren't either of those, but we do not have the volume of usage that they do.

There is a big difference when you have 5 or 6 users signed on at a time and having 500 or 600 users at a time.

O.K.....first off, just to let everyone know, there was a title to this thread but some damn, crazy Romanian deleted it.....:pfft:

Second, the reason why vortex is such a quality site is because it is part of a big network of sites (i.e. the car lounge) and the site does not allow off topic posts. If it doesn't have to do with technical ON TOPIC information, it gets locked. So mostly what you get is do it yourself projects and people asking for help/advice with problems. It works and it is very informative. I didn't know jack shizzle about vws when I bought mine so the site is/was very valuable to me. Now that I've said that, I think if we somehow applied that to this site, we might see more traffic.

Not that I'm dissing hs but right now this site is no more than a bitch and chat site.........which is why all the traffic disappeared. I remember when I joined back in '02 it was nothing to see 20-30 signed on and another 20 or so non-members browsing the site. As little as that was, it was about 10 times more than what we see now...and people actually posted :yes:

Frankly I don't think this site is going to get much more traffic...

H-T is THE honda forum... anything that's going to stand a chance to it is going to have to be more specific or focused in a way it can't or won't be...

Vortex is THE VW site... it's owners just encourage more of a community atmosphere there... they encourage meets and discussion more...

H-T seems to be Bandwidth misers... they get pissed any time ANYONE posts ANYTHING that's been posted before... and they don't like pic threads don't really encourage the regional forums...

There's a regular H-T meet in CT where I am though and it gets BIG turn outs...

Over all I think Vortex sucks... most of the dudes there have WAY more elitist attitudes for people who drive straight up shitty cars...

Sorry VW sucks ass, it's like the buick of german cars and german cars in general are overenginered untested and shitty. They have shitty long term reliability. And most of all SUCK ASS to work on.

You go to a H-T meet or post on H-T about a VW they'll simply try to answer the question or direct you to vortex... vortex dudes straight up actively talk crap and hate hondas.. it's the most pitiful envy inspired crap ever.

I went to a couple VW meets around here and the dudes are ok and most of the cars are frankly MUCH nicer than the Honda's I see (as far as quality of work and style)... but they're whiney whores when it comes to honda's... it's like grow up... not only are they not lamer than your VW they're MUCH better in almost EVERY way... no EVERY way.

I think a lot of the time the tech forums here get sold short. Every now and then I'll randomly click on the "who's online" feature and guess what the guests are reading most of the time...it's not OT. If we could just get a few more people who have some decent knowledge of Honda things...tricks, tips, write-ups, whatever...and have them do some tech files maybe we'd do a little better. I did 4 or 5 in high performance...and I drive a Ford.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...I like the fact that this site is as small as it is. Before coming here I was used to super huge sites like The Corral. It's hard to feel like a community with 80K members and when there are at least 150 people logged on at any given time.

o.k...at first I was gonna flame the shit out of you hear and then I had to read your post 3 or 4 times to see what the hell was going on here.......

In the first paragraph I quoted, you say VW sucks ass and then in the second you say the cars are much nicer than Hondas.....which is it? As far as long term reliability, I know several VWs with 200,000 + miles that are still going strong. Yes, the mantainance on the cars suck and they are a pain in the ass to work on but whatever.

Now, after saying all of that, none of the above has anything to do with the fact that THIS site has turned into nothing other than one big on-line Dear Fucking Abby Page. Go through the last 90 days of posts and the majority of what you'll find is boo hoo bullshit about someone's girlfriend left them, or how they can't get a date, or some bullshit like that. It is nice to have a small community and I do agree with you Steve, but at the same time the interactivity that this site used to have has gone down the toilet.

I like the forum as it is.. .there are DEFINATELY some great tech articles on here... but it's not a repository of information like H-T...

I like this site a lot... I almost always post same Q's here as I do there... however there you get a LOT more opinions... sometimes that helps sometimes not...

If anyone's noticed,I haven't really been around for awhile..man, when I came back , I thought I was gonna take daysssss to read all of the stuff that I've missed. Unfortunately, I was a little let down to see that it hasn't been very active. I also notice that most people don't post on the weekends. I know, you all have exciting lives, but I feel funny for posting on weekends now. Seems like I'm posting to thin air and people won't respond until the weekday anyway..
