im looking in to buying this:

a used Darton Sleeved H23a1 block. It lost a rod bearing & I was planning on rebuilding it & machining it for a H22a4 (55mm mains) crank for safer high rpms, but have decided to take another direction (sell my Lude). It's a bare block, except for the water pipe, oil cooler, & oil squirters. I also have the crank & a H22a4 girdle. Cylinder 1 did get scored a little due to the lost bearing & is probably no longer any good at 87mm bore. This block is for those interested in building it at 87.5mm or larger bore.

now if i get it bored out to 89mm do i have to resleeve it??

nope since its a Darton sleeved block you should just be able to bore it out to 89mm.

what oil pan do you recommend?

since you're boosting I'd seriously consider an aftermarket oil pan that has a larger capacity than stock.

but moroso makes a nice expensive pan for H I think

i just like the idea of extra oil to soak up all the extra heat. not really necessary, its just what I'd like to do.

hmmm, so stock would be fine? how much boost would run on stock or does that even matter?

i also got to get internals. im thinking wiesco but what rods?

I guess it depends on if the turbo is water cooled or not. Since Im looking at a GT ball bearing turbo thats water cooled, I dont really care about additional oil for cooling (just a better radiator). But you could also always add an external oil cooler.

Look at what kind of power you want to make, instead of what boost level, in order to decide on what kinds of internals you want to use.
Eagle/Scat rods are nicely priced and hold up to 500hp, but dont hold to revs really over 9000 (how often is that really a factor though)

Wiseco pistons are a nice choice because they have the tightest tolerences and are most like an oem piston. Their skirts are also coated, whereas others are not....which is kinda nice.

i want to make 500 or 600hp.
