ok so after like 2 weeks of looking for my car keys. I can't find the fockers...It is not a key ring either, its JUST THE SINGLE BLACK MASTER CAR KEY....the only copy i have for my prelude. Anyways, is there a way I can get ANOTHER key made? i know it has a chip in it and they aren't cheap. but i need to get in my car and i can't even do that!! any suggestions?
i can't believe i lost it

if you need to just get into your car, take the black weather strip at the base of the window off. then take a metal coat hanger and pull the arm with the thick metal rod attached to the bottom UP. that will pop the door lock open.
ahh those years as a delinquent are paying off..

really...I dont think we should be openly telling the dumb theives how to break into our cars...
Really sounds like youre going to have to get a new key. I believe if you go to a Honda dealer, with your vin and title, they will make you a new one. Yes, expensive, but personally, I dont see another option.
(I always keep a spare key in my wallet)

a dude at my old work showed me how to unlock a integra with my accord key...beleive it or not depending on what key you have you can unlock almost any honda/acura vehicle before 97:D

dude, i may be able to help ya, dating a locksmith can come in handy.
do not peel your weatherstripping, call out a locksmith or get ahold of me and i can possibly get john to cut you a key based on your keycode and tell ya how to prgram it yourself.

One word man...slimjim. I picked up 2 sets (not just the metal bar...they come in sets so you can use it on different makes) at a trade show a few years ago and it's saved my ass and the asses of many others. I keep one in my truck in case someone else needs to get into their car and one at home in case I get locked out (in which case the ones in the car aren't much good.

actually the coding comes from a chip hidden inside the key, and they need to program the ecu to work with the new key. just show honda the title and registration to the car and they should be able to get you a new key.

Exactly. It's not some sort of scam...well...at least not one that Honda engineers didn't think of. The chips sends a message to the computer to let it know that you've got the right key for that car. While it may be easy to open the doors with different keys (the Japanese are a few decades behind the US in key tolerances), be happy your car won't actually start with just any key. My truck is like that. I hate it, but at least it means some dumbshit fuckwad can't just stuck any key in my ignition and make it run.

not a bad price.......it runs 150 here. thats the price u pay for stupidity. make sure u get 2 keys made this time.
ps the door key only uses 7 cylinders where as teh ignition uses 9.

the key works for both the door and ignition
i posted this on another board and a few fellow preluders said that sometimes they cannot just make a black copy. they will have to issue a red key as well which can cost like $1500....i hope whoever said that is a drunk mess
i must find this key....i looked up down left right and center and i can't find the mother focker
ohiochica

yes the one key works both but the ignition uses all the key cuts where as the door uses only 7.

wtf was he talking about red key? it should definately not run more than 200 us dollars. call a locksmith, they do this shit every day, a dealer doesnt do this very often. they often make duplicates but that is a much simpler programming prossess
