Most of you probably don't know, but I have new addition to the family. Onyx, born August 24th. Momma's a blue nose, pops is a red nose.

Here's my situation...

I said from the beginning that I would not wanna get his ears cropped. Then I start looking at all of the other dogs in the family with their ears done and now find it..kinda cute. Onyx is gonna be a big boy, and since he's all black, I think he'd look goofy withOUT cropped ears. What do you guys think? I'd like to have them done soon if we decide to get it done..so I need opinions!

Here's some pics of him so it gives you guys an idea

Since I'm already posting pics, here's my cousins new puppy. About 14 weeks now.

Pic was taken when he was like 10 weeks.

Bogan is the name..and yes, he's gonna be a big mother fxcker.

cute dogs.

yours is cuter than the other one, but once the ears are cropped they lose their "cuteness" in favor of the "badass" look.

That's what I always thought, but with his ears still there, do you think it'd look flappy and, well, out of place? I don't think I have EVER seen a pitbull withOUT cropped ears.

and thanks. :)

well in all honesty, as a puppy the floppy ears works very well...but then when they lose their puppy look the cropped ears looks MUCH better on them.
i dont think ive seen an adult pit without cropped ears that looked good.

let me see if i can find a pic i saw of a adult pit w/ floppy ears.

why would you put a dog through something like that just for looks?

I wouldn't risk the infection or inflict the pain or make them wear that stupid collar just to make him look a certain way. They are born with their ears like that because that's the way nature intended them to be, it probably keeps the dirt out better and stuff..

my dogs are spoiled enough to think that i'm putting them through hell by cropping their ears. in truth, we have another pitbull in the family with an ear infection and she's the only one withOUT cropped ears.

I'm not too concerned about the infections as we have a good vet with lots of experiences, and most importantly experiences with doggies in the family. I totally get what you're saying though, SilverHX. Kinda ask yourself why chicks get implants though, right?

As for the tail, yeah, I never considered chopping that off, isn't the tail cut for dogs like boxers?

I've got 3 weeks to decide, so we'll see.

Thanks by the way, I <3 Onyx!

And no, Mischief, those dogs' ears aren't cropped. I would post a pic for ya, but I'm still having issues posting pics. It won't allow it.

nice dig at my boobs, anyhow I made that choice myself. Dogs can't speak.

lol. it wasn't intended to be a pun! remember? i just "met" you like, 2 weeks ago..I didn't know you had fake boobs. It was just an example.

Dogs can't speak, yet they still make their own choices. Seeing as how they can't speak for all things, we, their "owners" make some decisions for them too.

He looks just like mine did when he was a puppy. We did not clip his ears. Sometimes I wish we did, they look really cool with cropped ears. But like Tom said they look a lot more friendly with the ears not cropped.

People tend to get intimidated by pitbulls easily. Sometimes this can cause problems with ignorant neighbors, etc. The more menacing they look the worse it maybe. Luckily, we haven't really had any problems with ours. We walk ours all of the time so most of the people come up and pet them and they know he is harmless.

He's almost 4 years old, maybe 5(I can't remember now) and weighs about 90-95 lbs.
