yeah it actually works, pretty decent deal if you ask me. I refer you, you get $25 and I get $10 and the interest rate right now on an ING savings account is 3.4% w/ no minimum you can make your initial deposit like a buck, if your bank is like mine you're probably getting like 1% or less. So I said screw it I'm transfering my money over.

So can I refer some of you guys? If you'd like to just PM me your email address and I'll send you a referral, its pretty simple to setup and it links w/ your current checking account so you can transfer money between them whenever you want.

no its like making money for opening a savings account like alot of banks do, but ING makes it easy. OR you can keep blowing whatever extra money you have every month and never have a savings so when an emergency comes along and you need some money you have to put it on a credit card/loan thereby going into debt. then when you see something you want but don't have the money for you can throw that onto the cc digging yourself even deeper in debt until one day you're calling up a credit counseling company and your credit score takes a dive and you can no longer buy a car, house, get insurance, cc, w/ out getting ripped off.

ask about any finance type person how to build wealth, they'll say get rid of stupid debt like credit cards and other nonsense, and start a savings account usually equal to around 3-6months worth of expenses, then start investing.

I'm going to say its right on the line. I'll let it slide since he is a long standing member and he isn't the only one benefiting from it. Aslong as noone else complains about it.:D

yeah really I'm not asking people to open an account so I'll get paid and you just go through the hassle of opening an account. You get $25 and I get $10, its a win, win, situation. I wouldn't bring it up if I thought it was scam or something weird, You've seen the commercials for ING Direct, you know its a real bank thats FDIC insured. There are only a few other banks in the nation that offer a higher interest rate but its not as easy to sign up and they don't give you a $25 gift for being referred and alot of times there's a minimum.

how easy is it to sign up?

AzCivic
09-26-2005, 01:29 PM
only takes a few minutes and its all online. they ask you for your personal info, and checking account info(routing #, account#, bank name), and a deposit(there's no minimum, I put in $10 just to start but I suppose you could put in a penny if you wanted) then your account is setup. then they'll do what paypal does and make a couple deposits in your old account so they can verify its a real account. as soon as you sign up w/ a referral you'll have the $25 in the account. but you only get the money if you're referred, other wise nothing.

so I'd have to call my bank or what not to find out all that info in order to set the account up eh? PM me the link if you would plz

AzCivic

if you have checks the routing # and account # are on them, if you don't you can just call up your bank and they'll tell you.

the website is www.ingdirect.com

you know how some banks give out stupid toasters or something to sign up? this is the same thing only better.

as soon as you verify the small deposits you can start transferring money back and forth between your old checking and the new savings account. There's a 10day hold on your initial deposit while everything gets setup but the 25$ is available as soon as you verify.

I'm just trying to understand why nobody wants free money.

JJ has a point. It's one thing to mention the fact that people can get in on this, it's wholely another to push it over and over again.

For what it's worth, I already have 2 bank accounts and I've got trouble keeping track of those 2. The last thing I need is a 3rd account that I'll completely forget about...especially when tax time comes around. $25 just isn't worth the hassle to me.

do either of those accounts make 3.4% interest?

I don't know or care. Not like there's enough money in them to make any kind of difference, anyway.

then why are you worried about taxes w/ them? the IRS doesn't care about the $1.25 you make in interest (just an example) every year.

but seriously everyone needs to have a decent savings account setup, even if its just 25bucks a month. better to have it making 3.4% then like .77%(what my great credit union pays).

Yes they do. You are supposed to claim any intrest that you earn. ING reports it and they will send you a letter at taxt time.

And if you actually use it as a savings account, you will make a lot more than 1.25 a year.

AzCivic
09-27-2005, 07:21 PM
no they don't, i've never heard of someone getting audited cause they didn't claim the 8.95$ in interest they made which means they owe the IRS something like $1.34. especially since the majority of americans pay way more in taxes through the year than they should and get a tax refund.

If you actually use a savings account to hold a larger amount of cash then yeah of course you need to claim it, but according to GT he doesn't have enough in there that the difference in interest rate wouldn't make much of a difference in what he'd make.

Oh. Well since you never heard of it then it must not exist.

And I never said you would get audited for a 1.25.
