This morning I decided it was a good day to wash, clay, and wax my car...since I havent done it at all the whole summer (rained a lot!)
Anyway, after the wax I notice that my hood has since warped into the shape it should, since the last time I adjusted my hood pins, so I started to adjust them to take up the slack.
I did the driver's pin just fine, but when I got to the passenger's stud the nuts were stuck so well w/ red threadlock I couldnt even budge it. These were stainless pins and I ended up bending the top of the stud rather than breaking the nut loose...
Pissed, I dug out the dremel and cut the top of the stud and pulled the whole thing out.
I didnt feel safe with just one pin so I called around and the only local pins were APC, 10miles away. ....I bought them and replaced the only stud.
Dear god...what A Piece of Crap! I bought the "polished" pins because I was not interested in blue. These are super, super light (too much so) and I feel only moderately safer than I did before. The "polish" seems to actually be flaking off and I had to bend the rad support to get the stud to fit into the slot of the top mount.
I have already started looking for good prices on momo or sparco stainless pins..... When I buy a set I'll be selling these for $5, because thats all they should cost in the first place (not $16)
Moral of the story...no red threadlocker on hood pins...
