I know from personal experience that hardly anyone hear has any kind of patience for anything that's actually important in the event that it's lengthy, but this is certainly worth a read:

8:40 NORAD command center claims first notification of likely Flight 11 hijacking.
8:42 Flight 175 veers off course and shuts down its transponder.
8:43 NORAD claims first notification of likely Flight 175 hijacking.
8:46 Flight 11 hits the World Trade Center north tower.
8:46 Flight 77 goes off course.
9:03 Flight 175 hits the WTC south tower.
9:16 Flight 93 goes off course.
9:16 NORAD claims first notification of likely Flight 93 hijacking.
9:24 NORAD claims first notification of likely Flight 77 hijacking.
9:37 Flight 77 hits the Pentagon.
10:06 Flight 93 crashes in a Pennsylvania field.
how the hell did those planes not get shot out of the sky, I mean for gods sake they had to know that planes were off course or weren't responding to air traffic control.

What sounds better.. Airplane suspected to be hijacked shot down by the military or them crashing them so we can't get blamed for shit?
And I started to read the whole lies thing but it's just boring liberal jibber jabber.. We took out an evil man. End of story.

Either he has wicked telepathic abilities or his removal didn't mean a damn thing. A good amount of people there still want us gone an are pissed enough at us to kill their own countrymen just for siding with us. The only progress they've made is the progress we've forced them to make. We rigged their "historic" elections and called it democracy. We expected them to overcome millenia of cultural and political differences in a matter of months and draft a constitution (with our help of course and, if it's not done soon, those "historic" elections will be null and void). Now all of our best intelligence says the "insurgents" (I have a sneaking suspicion that if those guys were our guys, they'd be heroes, not nightmarish villains) are laying low for a while only to pop back up and hit us hard. Think: "Tet offensive". So I'm not altogether sure that the prevailing thought of Iraqis praising allah because we came and arrested one guy is correct.
As for the planes, it's funny...some people out there (I'm not one of them) really think that we DID shoot flight 93 down. We did scramble F16s, but didn't shoot anyone down.

Blah, Blah, Blah..
The government will never tell the truth, no matter who is in office.. If they did, most Americans would commit suicide because they couldn't handle the truth.
I for one wouldn't have a problem with that, but what do I know? Not to mention, who the hell would believe the media anyway. They report shit about UFOs, cheating Celebraties, bank robbers, Child molesting/White black guys, and anything else they think they have a story about. Talk about puppets.

as far as the planes they could've "escorted" the planes with the f16s..and I'm damn sure if they saw what they were all headed for the would have shot them planes down and I wouldn't give a damn who was on the plane.
in any case, I'm just waiting for the terrorist to completely rape us once we fail over there, imo its bound to happen

Somehow I don't think the majority of the U.S. would have really placed much blame on the powers that be if they had shot down a hijacked airplane. It's simple math...kill a few people or wait and see what happens and sit by while (potentially) many more die...including the people that were on the plane to begin with. Then there's the crazies who'd come up with conspiracy theories either way (not that all conspiracy theories are crazy, it's just that some people take it too far). I don't think escorting them would've worked, either. If you're nuts enough to fly into buildings and shit, what's stopping you from trying to play bumper cars with a few F16s? I guess we just got lucky that the people on that particular plane had the knowledge and the balls to take matters into their own hands.
But I think you're correct Darin...I think another attack is inevitable. Regardless of how big or where it is, it's almost a certainty. We're pissing people off all over the place and these people aren't known for their benevolence. No matter how good our intelligence is, we can't stop everyone unless we lock down our borders. Once it happens I think we'll see the end of this country as we know it. By that I mean a (for the most part) free Amerika. The Patriot Act and FISA will likely look like declarations of independence compared to what I think we'll see after another attack. I'd say anything up to and including martial law. If that happens, I'm moving to Europe (provided I can even leave the country at all). Enjoy it while you can.

well i would assume f16's are far more manueverable than a commerical airliner haha. and hell i cant beleive that anyone in a hijacked plane would be so willing to sit and most likely await their deaths...hell I'd take the first chance i got to disarm a hijacker and fuck them all up, cause there is a strong likelihood if one person stepped into take charge others would rally up with you...
I'd say any of the major cities should be on their guard, the government will not stand, the foundation is far too unstable there in iraq now

Well...previously most hijacked planes were hijacked for political or personal gains so people were told to just go along with it and generally shit got worked out. The only reason those people kicked some ass was because they had cell phones and they knew what had happened in NY and DC. They knew this wasn't the normal shit. They had the balls to force the plane down (although I'm sure that wasn't their first choice) with the knowledge that one way or another they'd probably be killed...but whether or not they'd crash into a building or into a deserted field was up to them. It wasn't a matter of inaction...it was a matter of playing the odds.
And yes...F16s are quite manueverable...but a 767 is huge. There's a fine line between escorting it and becoming a victim of it.
