right..my car was running perfectly and all of a sudden when i start it up now, it idles erracticly..it goes like 1500rpm, 700, 1500, 700....back and forth until it warms up a bit..anyone else have this problem? it gets really annoying and im' sick of people saying "why are you doing that?" or "what's wrong with your car?"

p.s. i already replaced the pcv valve!

idle air control valve (IACV) on the back of the intake manifold
Remove it and try spraying it with carb cleaner to clean it out

i dont' freak out alot..i just hate how my car runs perfect for like 2 weeks..then somethign comes up..then its good..then something else comes up..its very frustarating!

ok i took some pics and i also got a code 14 today which is Idle Air Control Valve
please help!
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/Grip72/idleairvalve.jpg

isn't the thing circled in green the idle air control valve?
and isn't the red electrical plug the connector for the IACV?
when i unplug the plug above with the car running, the idle drops and then when plugged back in, it rises back up.

isn't the thing circled in green the thermostat?

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/Grip72/whatsthis.jpg
what is this thing circle in red? with the electrical connector?
[by the way the large opening on the right is my throttle body with the CAI removed]

ALL THE DIAGRAMS IN my Chilton manual book suck ass! any help is appreciated!

the thing circled in red is the TPS, throttle position sensor, you should never really have to mess with that.

Yes, the green circled thing on the front of the intake mani is the iacv.
Like I said, its probably dirty and needs to be cleaned. Remove the electrical connector, throw on some electric grease; unblolt the iacv and clean the backside w/ carb cleaner. (While youre at it, shoot the carb cleaner into the throttle body, while the car is running, to clean that out too (you'll have to pull the throttle cable while doing this or it will stall out.
After you do all that, unplug the battery for a while to reset the ecu. If you still get the code after doing all that...I dont know what to say.

Cars are always trouble, if you ask me...but thats part of the fun.

well if he still throws the code after that I would just get a new iacv

i know this may sound stupid but if sometimes if you start a cold car up with the AC on it will cause the idle to bounce, er at least that's how mine was before i yanked the AC

Yeah, a new iacv would fix it, if cleaning doesnt...but theyre close to $200

nope, that is just a fitting for the radiator hose. the thermostat is somewhere close to the intake manifold.

i don't know, on mine there are no sensors in that housing. all my 3 temp sensors are on the head under the dist.
