Just thought it is a day to remember...
remember the atrocities of war
and the anguish of lives changed in the flash of 2 bombs
Hiroshima after August 6, 1945

yeah man... and all for politics too...
Saw a bunch of specials on it this weekend... looks like it's finally coming out that it wasn't needed to end the war... more of something we WANTED to do...
Politics are all F'd up if you ask me.
Not just americans though... the japanese gov't wasn't exactly fogiving to the residents of Nanjing or to P.O.W's...
Chinese weren't exactly fogiving to ANYONE EVER...
basically we live in a shitty world filled with shitty events.

from what i saw it was either that or we were gonna attack japans main islands, i think it basically prevented an early vietnam type war.

That...or drag the war on for years and years. All you have to do is the look at the often suicidal determination of the Japanese and the outcome becomes obvious. Hell...they wouldn't have dropped the second one on Nagasaki if Japan had taken come to their senses after Hiroshima. Basically just the better of two horribly shitty choices. And who knows...maybe ending the war earlier saved more lives than the bombs took.

it still something that no one should ever have to be put through..read an autobiography book that was written by a pilot who flew on escort missions for the kamikaze and lost his best friends and watched them fly into ships. the day before he was to have his last flight he visited his family in hiroshima and watched the bomb fall. goes into depth about the time he spent stumbling around the ruins 6 hours after the bomb. he woke up and was dug out of rubble.
the story opened my eyes to the resentment that some japanese felt toward the tokyo government for the "senseless deaths and propaganda".
great great book written by pilot Yasuo Kuwahara called Kamikaze
today nagasaki was bombed
