unbelievable. The other night i get in my car, and all of a sudden my 3rd gear grinds every time i shift up to it. I don't know how it could happen cause i haven't grinded a gear in ages and my car only has 57K miles.
i figure i'll have to look into some of the famouse GM synchromesh tranny fluid. Any other ideas or things to look for?

They dont go when you mis-shift and grind, they tend to go faster when you shift in the higher rpm's.
Dont get too upset, honda trannies arent exactly the toughest things out there...my 3rd has a slight grind too.
GM synchromesh (friction modified) fluid - Part # 12377916.
Its a lot more than honda mtf, but it does work (as a bandaid).
Next thing, if you feel like spending the cash, is buy new synchros.

If you do decide to get new synchros, get the Gear Speed version. Tougher material and coated. GM synchromesh does magic...........

Some dealers really want to rip you off on it for $15/qt
Others will sell it at list of $11-12 or less (Ive heard $9)

the penzoil packaged version is cheaper and they're who produce it for GM...
I use the non friction modified one... just because that's what autozone stocks.

the stuff took me from grinding 3rd while shifting at anything ovr 5grand to chirping 3rd when shifting at redline in my last tranny.

yeah I had whirring and grinding at like 80k miles... I JUST replaced the trans with 204k...
I'd say it'll get some extra miles out of the trans to say the least.
And I BEAT on my car daily.
