If it's not backwards compatible, what's the fucking point? If the PS2 couldn't play all the games I already had for the original PS1, I Probably wouldn't have bought the damn thing when I did. If it's truebly not compatible, expect Microsoft to try to sell you "new" versions of the shit you already own...just to make a buck.

i think backward capability is useless unless you can save the game, which i dont think you can do w/ ps2, right?

Sure you can with a PS2 memory card. You can use PS1 memory cards for PS1 games, but they're useless for PS2 games. PS2 cards will work for both. That was one thing that got to me about the PS2s, though. When they came out you could buy a PS1 memory card for about $10 (if that). Then the PS2s shipped without a memory card...which you had to buy for about $30.

You must have some special ps2 memory card then cause the standard ps2 memory card doesn't save ps1 games....

I was pretty sure I'd done that before...but I could be wrong. Seems like forever since I've played a PS1 game, so who knows. But the PS1 memory cards still work with the PS2 console...so either way you're set.

The next gen playstation is supposed to be REDICULOUS... when PS2 cameout they set some crazy high mark for the next one and now they did it with distributed computing.... I never even bought a ps2 because I was too into computer cames at the time and I already had a DVD player...

I might get a PS3 though if it's a sick as they're making it sound.

Problem with all those consoles though is that the software vendors don't get a working model for soo long that the games that really show off what the system can do don't come out for years after its release.

well the guy who made the Xbox design quit mircosoft and now works for sony. so the new PS3 is has a fame rate, but the graphic content is the same.

Actually from what I've been hearing the PS3 is multiple times more powerful than the Xbox 2, like 2 or 3 times, that's quite a bit mroe power....

What the fuck does that even mean? If you meant FRAME RATE, that won't happen unless the PS3 abandons NTSC operation...making it useless on many Amerikan TVs. NTSC frame rate is 29.97 frames per second. PAL (Europe and Japan) frame rate is 25 frames per second. Since all US market PS games are based on NTSC DVD format, you can't really change the frame rate.

I had an xbox for the halo hype...then I got bored with beating it on legendary and sold it. I like my Gamecube a whole lot more than my ps2.
Im done buying new consoles and playing keep up. The only recent (and to me this the past few years) has been RE4. GT4 hasnt even kept me glued to the set as much as I hoped it would

If PS3 is supposed to be awesome, and the new Xbox is supposed to be great, then Nintendo's new console will end up being better..........when a good game comes out for it.....:paranoid:
