View Full Version : Bass does not equal cool

I've noticed that the apartments around me have become infested with morons. Morons that feel that bass is some sort of status symbol...like pumping out more of it than most people somehow elevates you in society. WRONG. I constantly get awakened by the douche bags with shitty SUVs that feel the need to turn their shitty music up so loud that I can hear it from 30 yards away...through my front door...through my room. Assholes. Congratulations...you've discovered the lower end of the human auditory spectrum. You want a fucking cookie? Mind you...I like my music loud, especially in the car. That being said, I take great pride in the fact that people within a 2 block radius can't hear what I'm playing. If anything, annoyingly loud bass-heavy music should be legal grounds for vehicular homicide. Why? Because everytime I see some dickweed thinking that bass alone makes him more important, I feel the need to run him (or in the rare occassion, her) off of the road. You wanna dump a ton of money into a good stereo system? More power to ya. Just don't expect me not to kill you when it wakes me up because your shitty music from your shitty car is too fucking loud. To make matters worse, the stupid cunt that these fucks come to visit has two kids (approximately 6 and 10 in age). Way to be a good mom. Invite dipshits who you're sadly mistaken will be father figures for your kids over at 12:30 in the morning and have them hang out in front of your house with their bass pumping for around half an hour. You'll not only fuck up your kids, but you'll piss your neighbors off as well. Really, it's a win-win situation. Fucking whore.
While I'm thinking about it...people that listen to this sort of shit normally listen to rap. Nothing wrong with that...but I prefer hip hop. Acts like Blackalicious, Lyrics Born, Latyrx, and Jurassic 5. Stuff that's at least semi-intelligent. The bullshit that these fuckers play frequently emphasises the phrase "you don't know me" like it's some sort of threat. Fuck you. You're right...I don't know you, and I don't want to know you. Your stupidity rivals that of an epileptic performing brain surgery with a pipe wrench. It's true...I don't know you and, given a different time and place, I could probably kill you and get away with it. Fucks. There's no room for argument here. Stupidity has no musical or social boundaries. That being said...rock or punk played in your car won't wake up people that live across the way from you.

Correct.
Around here, it seems that the majority of those that have it are young kids with no money to afford good components, and if they can afford them they dont have enough to fix their car.
IE- There is a kid in my neighborhood who has a purple saturn whatever. Its missing BOTH front fenders and a rear bumper. Yet, he has a system large enough to hear him at least 1/2mile away. Its insane.
Guilty, I was like that when I was in high school. I think its a maturity thing that people grow out of....occasionally

Well, I have two quality 10" subs running off a JL 1000/1 in the Z... my car is louder than most you talk about, BUT I got the whole car dynamatted, so despite the noise level, it gets kept inside the car. :)
And yes, I too am tired of seeing baby blue ford explorers with altezza tailights and 4 15" subs that cost $20 each running off a crappy amp that might have costed $100...

haha Steve owns all
but you know what I have noticed, that Bass a lot of times is more profound in rock than it is in rap. go find some Poison the Well or some other band deemed "hardcore" and turn up the bass, in most cases they use double bass and that shit can get insane in a car with subs.
I enjoy my bass alot, I'm guilty but the thing is you can't hear mine outside of the car except on rare occassions
but in any case steve for president

When someone with really loud bass goes by, I just smile and think of when they are older and need a hearing aid to just hear people talking.

I hear ya man. We have kids like that in South West PA too. You know what else I really love about these emmy award winners? Most of them rattle like a vibrating bed, when everything is closed on thier car, all you can here it the trunk, plate, windows, doors, hoods, and every other loose panel on the car rattling like some one is beating it with a air chisel.
You got my vote dude.

I worked at a stereo shop so you would hate my stang. but I have enough dynomat to choke a donkey, and I am to old to have it really loud without feeling like a jackazz.

Bass sounds good to a certain extent. Lately been hanging out with some friends who are into that alot. There cars are loud as hell. They hurt my ears, but when turned low. They sounds pretty good. All in all, a matter of opinion. Then again, i do say shoot the people that wake you up in the middle of the night. They suck.

Perhaps I should clarify. I'm not against bass...far from it. Bass provides a feel for music and gives it warmth. HOWEVER...once it gets to a point where it's rattling pictures in my room and it's as far away as this asshole is or when I am forced to listen to it by sheer retardation of volume, then it's a problem.

werd..my buddy has a system that is too much for his car I make fun of him all the time because he thinks its cool as hell, but I get to drive behind him and watch his tailights dim with every hit.
keep telling him he's going to kill his alternator and/or battery:no:

I had a friend in high school who's parents were rich as fuck. For Hannukah when he was 16 they bought him a blown GT that had a competition stero system in it. The system alone probably cost at least $5K. The bass hit so hard that after about 20 minutes in the car it literally made me nauseous. That's unneccessary.

hey Steve do the new 'stangs come with 2 10's stock? or is it just one? I was walking by a guy getting out of his and was talking to him about his car and saw inside his trunk while he was getting some things out.. and saw the little box off to the side.. thought you might know

I think it depends on the audio system your get. I'm sure the Shaker 1000 system has that and more. I know it comes with 2 subs (10s, I think) up front...once in each door. I'm not sure where they put the rear, but I'm sure they're in there somewhere. It'd be nice to get a 1000 watt system from the factory.

I had a guy pull up next to me with his crap blaring.. mind you I was in the checy.. this about a year ago.. maybe more.. anyways he pulls up with full bass to a stop light.. sat there hoping the light would turn green quickly and it didn't.. so I let him have about 15 seconds of continuous 6500rpm exhaust noise out of 3 inch exhast.. guess who was rolling up their windows first.
Second was back in college. Bunch of frat fucks blaring their bass in their convertable mustang with the top down.. (I was in my 66 stang at the time). They were also in front of me.. so I turn on the roll control and do a massive burnout for about 30 seconds.. when the cloud engulfed them you could barely even see them.. burning rubber doesn't smell like flowers.

Being Steves roomate I completely agree with him. The thing I don't agree with is the fact the individuals creating said noise ARE NOT RESIDENTS!! What I mean is that the baby factory that is payin rent there has allowed her "new" boyfriend to move in and blast his music whenever he wants to. You'd think their neighbor would complain, but oh no!! They're in ca-hoots with eacother!! I like good music and I like some bass with it.... but this is just obnoxious. More of a "look what I bought". Hey, great... take your shit far away from me because I like to sleep in. I've had cars with loud exhaust, and I'd like to think I was considerate to my neighbors, but this is ridiculous.
This goes out to said resident- Why dont you try being a parent and watch all ten of your wedlock bastard spawn and do something other than shout "Stay out of the water". For fucks sake it's like tales from the trailer park around here.

I like my bass....One 12inch sub does it for me...not to be heard around the neighbourhood...only in the car:) i just hate it when people blast it going down a side street at 12am+ ...jesus people just turn it down lol...main streets go ahead...all there are...is cars...
