So the tranny fix is a total bust.
I replaced the standard clutch parts (clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, pilot bearing, and had the flywheel resurfaced) and replaced the input shaft bearing, which I was told would be the cause of my "bad bearing sound".
I took it out for a drive today (first time since fixed) and the sound is still there....but worse!

I installed everyhing correctly, and torqued things in the right order/way.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
I swear I will go totally berserk if its the countershaft bearing....

I will sadly be taking it to a shop otherwise....;(

kinda hard to say anything without hearing it first, but on my brother's maxima it was the differential bearings.

Well, if it was me, I'd try to isolate the noise. I'd put my car up on blocks, on all four corners, open up the hood, start it up, and investigate things. Have someone run it through the gears, while you roll around on a 'creeper'. Use a stethoscope, et cetera.

I now this sounds silly, but how else are you gonna find where the noise is coming from, you know?

sorry to hear that man. I, on the other hand found out that my B16 tranny didnt have LSD as mentioned by the focker who sold the car to me a year and a half ago :o. I'm getting Phantom Grip this weekend....

Have you seen all the reviews about phantom grip?

I just got it back from the shop. They couldnt find anything and magically, the sound is totally gone. They removed the entire transmission, drained my fluid (which I told the to reuse...and they did!) inspected it all and put it all back together for $100. I feel a bit ripped off, since nothing was found...but thats alright because she runs fine now

Nah, Im pretty meticulous about my torque specs. I woudlnt suspect that would make the sound anyway, since it did it before as well.
Im totally counting it as magic. I dont even want to know

H-T had a couple of reviews on Phantom Grip. Nothing negative. I called around to talk to a few tech who have it. They never had a problem with it. My buddy has been running his for a few years now without problems. People from RLZ Engineering has been running it on their race cars with no problems.....

I cant afford Quaife right now. If this tranny gave up on me, I'll just scramble and get an ITR tranny....
