First of all, no job can fire you for attending jury duty. By law they have to make exceptions for you to go. Secondly, it's not that hard to get out of jury duty. Just answer their questions in ways that make you sound horribly prejudice against any and all living things. This is the reason I fear a jury trial...I'd be tried by a group of people too stupid to get out of jury duty.

Jury Duty freakin Rocks! I got out of work for two days (I'm salary so I get paid either way.)

The first day was for selection, you will sit there for a few hours and go through the selection process. If you get choosen then you get to come back whenever the hearing begins. For me it was the next day. We showed up at 8:30, they had donuts and stuff setup for us. About 10:00 they came in and told us that both of the prosecuting attorneys were sick and the case was declared a mistrial. We were out of there by 10:30. They paid us $80 for showing up! and I had the rest of the day off.

They will give you a note that you present to your employer. Like GT said, your work can't do anything about Jury duty.

Yeah, just say something like "He's black/asian/white/mexican/snobby/poor/asshole-lookin/etc...of course he did it!" and they'll let you off. Make sure you retain that attitude throughout the entire interview that they do.

Not what I meant. If you don't wanna do it, it should be really easy to get out of it.

How ironic that this was broughten up. Raff's (my boyfriend) dad was doing his deed today after being called in. I thought you couldn't get out of it unless you had an infant to care for or something.

[shrug]
I should have told him.

my mom has been dismissed like 3 time in 2 years. But she probably fails the interview everytime because she's such a close-minded christian its rediculous.

Being closed minded is the fastest and easiest way of getting dismissed. They ask you if you can be a fair juror. If you make it sound like you can't for one reason or another, you won't be sitting up there to long.

Just a coincidence, Raff called his dad last night to see how it went. Turns out his dad didn't do it because it was a murder case; the murderer was some lady he went to college with. :D
