i have been looking into Asus boards. the one i want to use is Asus A8N-SLI Mainboard. what do you think?

You're nuts if you are going to pay a almost a grand for that CPU. That said...

I've had great luck with Gigabyte boards. This one seems to be the equivelant of what you are looking at:

It seems you are trying to build a bleeding edge system. I would consider going with nVidia video cards, and definately dump AGP. PCI-Express is the new stuff, and soon you wont see support for AGP on boards made for newer CPUs.

I have a nVidia 6600 GT, and it is setup to run SLI. The 6800 Ultra will do it too, I think, but you're talking money. nVidia has my vote.
