hood latch trunk popper

(Screw it - I moved this for more traffic)

I was curious about connecting my hood latch to a trunk popper, and then only be able to pop the trunk by remote. I imagine that its the same principle, right?

Well, I found this kit on eGay - would it work alright (assuming my idea is functional)

Or do I need more than a 15lb solenoid?


Oh, and before anyone asks:
NO, I am not wanting to raise the hood. I just want to pop the latch and disable the factory handle for security.

thats a good idea but I can get into your hood even easier than going through the car and pulling the hood popper, my brothers car got broken into right through the grill, snip off a fin on the left side of the grill and yank the cord thats it

Good question, I'd love one of those for my hatch, not sure if it'd work or not though.. I hate having to take my key out to open my hatch..

Thought about that:
Im planning to cover the exposed latch and hide the cable as best I can.

Im also going to buy a floating switch from radio shack, that completes a circuit when the hood is open, setting off the alarm. (I'll have 2 buttons to keep them busy, longer)

See I dont think its really that much work.
Lately, there have been a string of thefts in my area - more than ever before...its got me paranoid.
What's worse, is that if the people that break into the cars dont steal anything, they cause damage (coffee all over interiors, dent the hell out of panels, slice seats open, pop hoods and cut hoses and wires).
The really strange thing, is that no one can figure out how the people get into their cars in the first place. There are no marks from slim-jims, no damage to locks, paint, or window seals...nothing. Its like magic

dam same shit around here every bodys cars getting broken into, and 5 hondas were stolen in 1 night, its never been like this before, if you really want to protect your car get a two way alarm that beeps when someone touches your car and keep the car in range, thats the best way or put the car in the garage

No doubt. I'll do a write up, impressions, all that jazz.
I plan on going way above what I need for an alarm and spending the cash for the 2-way lcd. Probably a DEI or Compustar.
Id like 2 aux channels - one for the hood and one spare.

To hide the hood cable Im going to pick up some 1/4" aluminum square tubing from Ho' Depot. That will prevent people w/ just wire cutters or even tin snips from cutting the cable.
For the latch Id like to weld on some kind of cover...but it'll probably be just sheet metal bolted w/ red thread locker. (Since I cant weld)

you know what I did for the cable, I completey pulled out the cable from under the grill and routed it over the AC then the radiator and goes through a small hole on top then goes though a pipe I welded to the upper support peice (the thing that has the AC stickers)

btw to pop the hood you dont even need to cut the cable, all you have to do is yank it
