On my way home from class (for lunch) I ended up behind this Plymouth Breeze on the highway, and then down the off-ramp.
I was right behind it when the driver decided to turn right-on-red and her driver's wheel came right off the hub, rolled across the street (oddly enough w/o hitting anyone in busy traffic) and her car came to a flat hault on its belly (I've always wondered what it would look like).
I pulled over to help and saw that all lugs were sitting in the street. 3 had apparently not been tight and they worked themselves off. The studs were not stipped...neither were the lugs......they just weren't tight.
I wanted to share this information so all of you can recheck the torque on your lugs. I did as soon as I got home...all safe @ 85ft/lbs.
Still....sucks for her. I wonder if she knew they were loose? She was driving pretty slowly. Luck would have it, if she was on her way to discount or belle tire only 1/2 mile down the street.
