It has been randomly shutting power off without warning at random intervals for some time now. Now I can't get it to turn back on. If I flip the little red switch in the back to 230 from 115, it turns on, but my monitor doesn't display anything. Any ideas? Is it my power source that is faulty?

damn, i think your computer turned democrat on you

on a serious note now: i think you have a faulty drive there that's sucking more power than it should or something overheats and causes the computer to shut down. also i would look if you didn;t get any chip creep from the heat inside the computer.

Its not really turning on. 230 is for foregin countrys, keep it on 115.

Things that will randomly cause a computer to reboot are the Powers supply or the memory. How does it "not turn on"? Does it start just a blank screen? or does absoulty nothing happen?

If its nothing then unplug the power cord for 20 seconds and plug it back in.

Like J.J. said...230v is a European power source. I wouldn't use that...it could fuck your shit up for good (if it's not already). I'd try using a cheap power strip that you know is good and seeing if everything works. If it does, time for a new power supply. If not...who knows? Have there been any surges in your house lately?
