I finally made it to my first SCCA SOLO-II event. I was a bit apprehensive but after seeing Kai's Accord website (http://mywebpages.comcast.net/syclone1/index.htm) I thought I would give it a try.

Well, long story short, the car likes to understeer to say the least. But that said, I was able to take 2nd place in Novice (out of 17 drivers). I even beat a 350Z and an FD RX-7. teehee I guess they aren't used to driving their car hard like I am :D

Since I placed in the novice class, next time I will have to race my class of STS. It should be pretty touch competition because I was running times around 73sec when first place STS was around 65sec..

I had fun and encourage all Accord drivers to get out there. You can do better then you might expect.

Sounds like you had a blast. Have you thought about a bigger rear sway, or do you think that the understeer won't go away that easily?

I went from no sway bar to 19mm. So it was a definate improvement. As far as going bigger... we'll have to see. I am afraid of snap-oversteer.

I am looking at some coilovers that are running 10kg/mm front and 4kg/mm rear (something like 470 front 180 rear). I think that the big difference would also give an oversteer bias.

yeah is it an event run by a national organization? I really want to get into stuff like that come spring (once my car is lowered, turbo'd, and maybe worth driving) because i know i got some decent skills....

JDMFantasy2k - Check out http://www.scca.org/ and look for your local chapter. That is your best bet.

Shards- The event took place at Gainesville International Raceway. The next event there will be Oct. 9th with www.MartinSportsCarClub.com It will be my first event with them and it looks like it is a bit more than SCCA ($45 per driver). We'll see. And be sure to check out that SCCA link above to find other events in your area.
