yeah so i bummed one of these dell memory keys (64mb) off of my friend (the kind you plug in the usb port and it recognizes it as a removable drive). Well anyway, my comp still has windows 98 (which blows) and doesn't have the capability of recognizing it and it wants me to find a driver for it.
So i went to the dell website, which refered me to this other website which had drivers for my problem. Downloaded them, (and had to download winzip to use them) and they don't work. So i was wondering if i'm missing something of if anyone knows a trick to make this damn thing work or something.

yeah, usb support in 98 is spotty at best, but usually if you get the drivers they will work.
have ou ever installed a driver for something like this before? generally there is not nice little installation executable, you have to point windows in the right direction. Use the Add new hardware applet in control panel and play with that. make sure you have the driver for your EXACT make and model.

Um, you need a USB 2.0 device. The USB Cards are like 35-45 bucks. Your'e prob running an older usb port with win 98. But I'm fairly sure you need USB 2.0 Ports.

get windows 2k or xp, as bad as they might be, much more user friendly than 98

if at all possible, definatly switch to xp
usb 2.0 shouldn't matter, because any new usb hispeed device is backwards compatible. Its just a matter of finding a driver that works, because 98 blows.
an add-in card might be an interesting idea, but seems like overkill for what he wants. I've been able to run a very new usb key on an oldass thinkpad running 98, by just finding the right driver.
give me all the info on your usb key, and i'll find you the driver.
