View Full Version : Apparently I drive the death route every weekend

So I went back to Kansas City last weekend. No big deal, had a few friends over for a late birthday-type event. I was driving my wicked badass Sonoma (190hp of 4.3L fury bitch!) and hauling a washer and dryer in the bed. Nevermind that it was pitifully underpowered to do the job...that's not the point. While in Miami county (the next county south of where I live), I was passed by a state trooper and an ambulance. No big deal. We're out in the sticks so they could be going anywhere. A few minutes later I was passed by another trooper/ambulance combo. Then I knew that I was fucked. After about another 15 minutes of driving I came upon it...a single car accident. This is a 2 lane highway (one lane in either direction) and a truck had flipped and completely fucked itself while trying to be a dumbass and pass another car. This is common place as people on this highway are morons and will try to pass no matter who's coming the other way. Well, I was the third car back after the troopers shut the highway down. I asked if I could be of assistance as did my mom (who was following me to help with the washer/dryer install...and she's a nurse). No...no help needed. Just shut your cars off...it'll be a while. Minutes later a life-flight helicopter landed right on the fucking highway. Now...I had been a rescue participant in an accident not 10 miles from here about 6 months ago where both parties died. Now I have to watch it all again. Fuck the state of Kansas for not improving this highway (there aren't even any lights along the 120 mile stretch between KC and Pittsburg) and fuck these stupid assholes for driving like jackasses. It took 45 minutes to get going again and I'm all but sure the guy in the helicopter died after seeing the truck. People who got out of their cars (I got out minutes after I was told to shut down) bitched about the hold up. All I could think was "at least you're going home in one piece you self centered fucks". The wonderful GMC design of the truck caused the roof to fold like a cheap hooker who got hit in the stomach by a fat guy with sores on his face. I hate this highway. No matter how you drive, there's a good chance you're next. Thanks KSDOT!

well, maybe its not all the highways fault. but the dumbasses who try to pass at top speed of their car.

Probably a little of both. Both of the accidents I've seen involved people trying to pass someone. Then again I-35 (a very well lit 6 lane highway) has just as many dumbasses and nowhere near as many fatal crashes.

maybe because there are 4 other lanes and no need to speed like hell to pass?

yes the slownoma. never try to pass with that! hahaha :D:D:D

the reason for less crashes is: slow lanes and fast lanes. if people had a little bit of patients. maybe things like that wouldnt happen. plus what was the speed limit there. people could be just stupid and have to do 100+ on something thats already 55.
