Help needed in deciding best air intake

Ok, Im totally drawn between AEM's Standard Cold Air intake, their Short Ram Air system, and the V2 intake system, Now I just have a 99 civic ex with skunk 2 catback system, so Im curious as to which of the three gives the best increase in hp (I know its not much) and the pro's and con's among the three. Any tips or info is really helpfull. Thanks.

really they are all the same, sure you may get 1 hp out of something more expensive, but you can get get an ebay intake and a kn filter and it will work just as fine.

i am running a cold air intake with no bypass valve and i have no problems. also i live in florida where it always raining!

^ yeah i'm with you on that one man, i just learn, if its a really big puddle, leave it rolling in gear, and shut the engine off, and then once you get past it just click it back into on and then you're all set :cool: Just be careful. I love mine though and haven't had any problems yet.

I have driven two cars with cold air intakes in the past 3 years in very rainy climates with no problems. I have lived in Louisiana and the UK during these times. I will say it again as I have said it b4. Anyone who blows their engine from sucking up water is a freakin moron! U can tell your friend i said so.

As far as to answer the question for which this post was intended for. Well the new V2 CAI I would say should make more power. It uses "resonating frequency" to "supercharge" the cylinders with the air/fuel charge at certain RPM's. Obviously this effect creates more power than other comparable cold air intakes. This has been gone over b4. Might want to search.

i drove a civic identical to mine with an AEM V2, it's nice but i don't think it's worth the extra money:cool:

basically i think the different diameter piping allows the sound to resonate more so you get more intake sound.

yea Ive decided to cut my loses and go on the safe side with a short ram, should come in 5 days or so, theres not much of a significant different between short ram and cai right?

as far as the AEM V2 CAI it supposedly more advanced, cuz it uses two different pipping diameters, thus creating two different, resonating frequencies and superchargers the cylinders in a broader range. Does it actually work? I dont know to be honest. I have not seen an independant dyno. If it does u will not feel the difference between the AEM CAI and the new V2. It will only be a few horsepower.
As far as the ebay special with the K and N filter. I personally dont believe that its not even close to the AEM's. A memeber from Hybrid forums had the ebay special on his car. He switched to the AEM CAI and if I remember correctly (minds a bit fuzzy) he gained 7 WHP. Thats not what I call a small difference. Anyways just my two cents.

you aint gonna gain crap, the gains you woulda got from removing the resonators in the intake are probably gonna be cancelled out by sucking up hot ass air.

it'll sound faster though.

seriously, if it doesn't rain hard in your area, go with the cold air. Or better yet look into systems that are both (ie: iceman, or i think injen makes some detatchable systems) that way in shitty, wet, spring and winter months you can take out the bumber section.

I was driving my car around tonight, and it was so cold out for being august, and you really could notice the differecnce. Especially on the highway when the air really gets moving.
