My guess would be when the thought of spending the rest of your life with that person doesn't scare you but the thought of spending the rest of your life WITHOUT that person does.

^You offering ewaugh? Haha...jfwy
Honestly man...I don't think I'd ever know for sure. Yeah, everybody thinks they know they're ready but then 6-10 years later you're divorced. I'm much more comfortable just being in love. I don't need a piece of paper to tell me I want to spend my life with someone.

I've come close- twice. One tried to talk me into road tripping to Vegas with her to get married, and the other I had been with for two years. Each time I figured if I was going to be with her forever, why rush it? Both times I was happy with the decision I made. You've got your whole life ahead of you- never rush anything that could last the rest of your life.

Okay heres a little history.. My wife and I dated for nearly 5 years before we actually got married. We lived together for a few years before we got married. My wife and I are very similar, we are both straight forward people that are open with eachother. I kept telling myself Id never get married, but eventually my feelings changed and I did what a real man should do. I accepted my responsibilities and decided to do the right thing. Getting married shouldnt be a competition, or you shouldnt have something to prove. If you have any doubts, you probably shouldnt do it.

Yuo can't say you'll never be ready and hell if you aren't even with someone for any legth of time I wouldn't expect someone to understand.
However guys have it the best, apparently there are 5-6 women to each male. So hey theres no excuse for being single. There has to be a woman out there that will put up with your shit.

Good for you man. I once asked a friend of mine who was engaged how he knew it was time, and he said that you just know, without any doubt in your mind whatsoever- the answer is so obvious to you that you feel silly for even questioning yourself. If that's where you are, I'm happy for you both.
I actually went to a wedding last Saturday for some friends I had known for about four years now. There are some people who say they're getting married, and all you can do is a muster a fake smile and say "Good Luck," when you're thinking to yourself "You're gonna need it!" These two were exactly opposite- they're perfect together, and we're all so happy for them. Be sure that's what you have, without any doubt whatsoever.
And god bless the girl that has to put up with my shit the rest of her life.
