Ever wonder why in CSI they look at everything in the dark with a flash light?

I was watching it hte other night with my gf and it really bugs me.

do u want them tolook at it with a candle ?

i think it's because in the dark you can focus more on a smaller area not being distracted by the surrounding things

maybe crimes happen more at night then during the day? seems sensible to me, also what stefan said sounds good

well they even do this in the day, the focus thing is a possiblity but seems a bit of a stretch.

its so that when the move the flashlight around anything it hits will reflect the small bit of light the the big ass halogen lights the use

I think it's because luminall (sp?) shows things much better with the lights off. Ever notice how they stick those filters on the flashlight? Yeah...I think that's why...could be wrong though.
