everytime i shut off my car my fan goes for like another 10 minutes it's freakin annoying. I don't know why it does it!!! SOOO many people ask me after i shut off my car "is ur car still on?" "What's wrong with ur car? " "why's you leave ur car on? i think its broken" and its damn frustarating to explain to them that my fan is just on....grrrrr it's loud and how or what the hell is wrong with it?

Discaconnect it. You don't need ac anyways. Grow some balls.

thats why they say to disconnect your battery when working near the fan

Chill guys.

A lot of Accords, earlier gen especially, do that after they're turned off. My buddie's does it, and I remember wondering why his car was "still on."

I've seen that happen on a few older Accords. I never could figure out why. If it's not supposed to do that (what do I know about basic Honda maintainance?), my guess is that there's a problem with the temp. sensor or something of that nature.

Mine does this too. Only problem is that I can get the ac fan on but not the regular fan and now it overheats when I turn the air on. I've already replaced two relays at about $100 and I can get the fan to work if I hook it up directly to the battery so it's not the fan. It's still somewhere in the electrical. I HATE electrical problems. I might just hook it up to a switch and be done with it. I really don't want to spend anymore $$ on it. Any other ideas?

That shit with people telling you your car is still on? Honda must like to annoy their owners.

I have a Honda bike, the '04 600 F4i as most probably know. Well Honda has a new thing within the last few years on bikes. Your headlight is just on on one side. The other side comes on when you turn on the brights. Too many people at work/in parking lots/wherever tell me I've got a light out. I just turn on the brights and tell them to go away.

I dunno what to tell you

10 minutes seems a little long to stay on... what temp is it outside?

Even in 90+ temps, mine never stays on after I shut my car off for more than a few seconds (if at all)...

Yeah mine will stay on for a few minutes sometimes. I live in Phoenix though, hit like 112 yesterday heh.

Replace your coolant temperature sensor.... it should be the one in the thermostat housing...

It's old and not responding to the heat range it should anymore...

Get a new one and it will come on fine... the easiest way to be sure that's it is to unplug the plug from the sensor and jump the connection (if it's a 2 wire)... it should make the fan come on...

If not your problem is something else...

VW's and a lot of other cars do this as well... it's a good idea... Civic's only come on after the car is off if the power is still on... the fan won't come on w/o acc. power.

If the fan can come on with the power turned off.... there should be a warning lable under the hood somewhere... generally right up front on the radiator support.

Hey, Accord 7

It's an thermostaticly controlled electric fan that doesn't run on belts, and is designed to help cool off injectors and whatever else that gets hot during driving conditions. It is absolutely normal, so don't disconnect it.

^ agreed

Cool. Thanks Boo! I'll get the part on my way home tonight and try it out. :luck:

*UPDATE*

Hey guys. I replaced that sensor and the fan is still not coming on. The fan I'm talking about is not the A/C fan because that comes on when I turn the A/C on and that's the same one that comes on after the car is off. The one I'm trying to fix is the one that is to the right on the radiator (looking at it from the front bumper) I've tried different switches, fuses and relays, along with replacing BOTH temp sensors. WTF!!! I don't want to waste any more $$ on this POS!!! Can someone help??!! AAAGGGGHHHHH!!! Stupid fan.
