Last night I went to go see Lars Fredricksen and the Bastards play up in Memphis. Holy fucking shit what a damn good show. Started out with The Briefs, they played some old school sounding punk but damn they were bouncing off the walls musta been on coke or something. Then the Horrorpops played, had Kim Nekroman from the Nekromatix playing guitar GREAT band. Finishing off with Lars Fredricksen and the Bastards. Great show and Matt from Rancid ended up there DAMN is all i have to describe that. If any of you guys have a chance to go see any of those bands do it. It's worth the money to get in.

I never liked rancid... too commercial imo...

Sounds like a good show though.. punk shows are generally more fun than other genre's of music...

My sister's husband is in a realatively popular punk band out of brooklyn... "Stockyard Stoics".... I've never seen them play but they're supposed to be good... My brother in-law is a good-sh!t...

I gotta check them out... but I think they're in europe now or something.

it was the best show ive ever been to out of the few major bands that ive been to. The last one i went to was teen idols, new found glory, anti-flag (put on a great show), and Less than Jake (also put on a good show)

That must've been a weird show. You've got a real punk band like Anti-Flag playing with a candy ass group like New Found Glory and a not-so-serious but still amazing ska-punk band like Less than Jake. Strange, to say the least.

it was kinda a weird show but I like LTJ and Anti-Flag the other bands were ok but not all too impressive, and the fact that Anti-Flag was touring with NFG was kinda weird now that I think about it.

hey GT what is a "real punk band" I dont think anyone will ever define that the same way but yea NFG is pop they arent even close to punk

A real punk band...man there are so many ways to describe it. It's lik that supreme court judge wrote about pornography..."I can't describe it but I know it when I see it". Anti-Flag has been hammering away for years and years with what is ideally punk rock...social commentary and ideals. New Found Glory is pop with a light base in punk that is coated with mostly emo subject matter (i.e. my girlfriend dumped me wah wah wah). But there are so many ways to define a real punk band. Social Distortion, Bad Religion, NOFX, FYP, Naked Aggression, Minor Threat, etc...all real punk bands with very different agendas. I can't tell you what it is but I know it when I hear it.

Yeah but it just seems different to everyone i talk to so you cant really categorize it without pissing someone off. But there is shit that cant even be judged as real punk
