View Full Version : okay my civic has stumpped me

i go to start my car, and i wont start, i checked the battery and it is fine, what are some possibilities of the problem.
there is no sounds coming from anywhere, so i dont know what it could be, 2 options are the clutch, and starter, and what some ways to check to check this,
pdiggs, i need your help!!!!

does it get power? does it crank at all? how close to starting does it get?

it doesn't even start to crank, and i have head lighs, sterio and all internal electronics

well i found out the problem, i got to start, roll start, so it is the starter, but i dont know much that is going to put me back.

if its not cranking at all then its godda be something related to your starter. without ignition it will still crank, just not turn over. maybe a ground came loose or something

take a hammer and bang a bit on the starter. that should be able to fix it for a while. a starter will prolly run you around 2-300

actuallt starter was 79.99, but they tested it and it wasn't the starter, it was the nuetral saftey switch.

yeah, i have that problem too (on the escort) just be sure to push the clutch in ALL the way as hard as you can. Unless the switch is completely hosed. i can't imagine it was too much.

well there is a rubber grommet to protect the metal piece, that gets pushed, well that piece went bad, so i used a bolt about the same size, and no it works as if it had no problem. and the starter was the easiest thing to remove , only two bolts and they are both on top!
