The H22 isn't a bad idea in a sol.
It's big yes. Fast yes.
The thing about the H22 throwing off your handeling. Not really.

Im not sure on the lay out of the Sol is compared to the CRX but my buddy put a h-22 in his rex and all its good for is stright-away drag races, it destroys your suspension, but thats in a CRX.

disagreed, it's a joke, i mean okay, provided you can get hte motor for cheap, but they're still fairly new, and prices are a bit higher, i wouldnt imagine you have much room in the bay for any thing...

but then again, i've always had a thing against vtec, my ideal set up would be LS buitl, plus a t3/4 turbo... *shrug* i guess the h22 is good for an all motor platform...

The h22's have been around since 1992. Now I dont really concider that a new motor. If we're saying that a 12yr old engine design is new then D16z6's are also new, as well as D16a6's...theyre only 13, afterall. K's, now those are new. But I'll go and say that the b18c spec r is "fairly new" as its only been around since 1997.

Expensive?
H22's can be purchased from local yards (complete) for around $1800 and $2200 from REPUTABLE online engine distributors - ie hmo. Now, getting it into the car will be the expensive part, for those that dont know what their doing and will have to have a shop do all the work. The general consensus is around another $1k for the install. Doesnt sound like thats much more (actually thats less) than a b18c5...and it has more torque.

No, its called serious. H22 civics/del sols are fast as hell. Theyre not THAT much heavier than a Bseries either. With stiffer spring rates up front (custom ones can be purchased through eibach) it will handle fine.

Now, I will agree that it doesnt leave much room in the bay...its a 2.2L engine. But, you could say the same thing for a turbo B series w/ a race design exhaust manifold, dual core radiator, ignition add-on, etc.

(Im not even going to get into turbo h's..)

Now, I personally think that an H into a civic is too much work for my time, but Im extremely lazy.

Ok, lets take a nice NA header then. Hmm...still no room. I dont care if its D,B,H,F,Z, or even C. You just lost your AC if youre a commuter or lost the ability to use a full size radiator (or at least not run 2 fans on it).
