I was wondering if advancing my timing would be advantageous. I always run premium (93 octane) in my car anyway and i was wondering if it is worthwile, what i would need to do it.

you can advance it about 2* and gain a tiny bit of power...this is typical of hondas. Anything more and you run a risk of detonation. 2* is still more than normal, but its usually safe. Just listen for pinging/detonation when you drive it at first and then periodically. But...I dont think that will be an issue w/ crazy 93oc. Running that high of an octane on a stock motor is pointless, youre pretty much just wasting money...

well i was considering a port + polish on the head and a new camshaft while it's in the shop getting fixed.... and i'd like to turbo it eventually, but i gotta rob a couple more banks first
also how do you advance timing? and am i going to need a timing light?

id advise against a cam if youre going turbo later.
a timing light would help you dial it in exactly
...but you can roughly do it by-
starting the car, let it warm up (fan kick on)
remove the pass. kick panel and jump the service connector (check engine light will come on)
losen the bolts on the dist. and SLIGHTLY turn it counterclockwise (mark the top of it and move it 1cm)
retighten, shut off car, remove jumper, restart
If you did it right the light will be off and you shouldnt have any detonation, yet still have a little more power when you test it w/ the ass-dyno.
Granted...this is what I remember from jdmfan.com (rip) directions. You may find better ones at honda-tech.com by searching.

fuk polishing the intake port if you are going turbo as well. Rough surface will help atomize fuel which will aid your combustion.

get a timing light.
cams and boost arent that bad pdigg! the ones you'd lose power on are probably the ones you cant have in a daily driver anyway.

thats true, but stock cams would do fine in a turbo car
better than one designed for na, where overlap would waste it

what about turbo designated cams?

youd lose power until youre turbo'd

Get all the upgrade at one time and install all. Research for the best combination..........

I dont know about losing power from a turbo cam when your N/A. I mean the turbo cam will have more lift than the stock cam atleast. Granted we are not talking about any sort of serious gain here, but I am skeptical whether u would loose power at all with it being naturally aspirated.

well usdually turbo cams have very short duration and higher lift. well you can always advance the timig 2 degrees for every garde of higer octane. Plus on most of the hondas that i looked at the specs the timig can be +- 3 degrees from stock with no problems.

My buddy had a bone stock sentra E with advanced timing that handed out beat-downs left and right. Thing was sick... Nothing but advanced timing... it really depends on the car though...
check out homemadeturbo.com.... they have tons of info on budget turbo builds...
