Alright...somehow this problem has reared it's head at me. I've been using TMPGenc to encode files from avi to mpeg format. My problem is for some reason with divx derivative codecs. Antyhing like Xvid, div3, div4, etc. doesn't want to come out right at all. I have the codecs installed...they just don't want to work. Usually it'll try and tell me the movie will come out to like 235 minutes or something...for a 90 minute movie. It'll encode the video, then the audio (seperately) and then just run for a little while longer for no damn reason. If I decompress the audio with the decompressor that comes with AVI2VCD it will *sometimes* work...but usually it ends up with a bad audio/video sync (you'll see someone's lips move and 3 seconds later you hear what they were saying). For some reason regular Divx works just fine. Any ideas as to what the hell I can do about this? I've tried everything and TMPGenc is really the only program I'm using...everything else takes around 10-15 hours to do the job usually while taking up 100% of your CPU. Any ideas?

IT"S A Compaq...2.4GH pentium with 512MB RAM. I dunno about the bitrate...I've never really checked. The only thing I've checked is that it encodes at 29.97fps. I would check video forums...if I knew where they were. Hehe.

K, that helps alot. Mo info always betta...My guess is that its the bit rate your using. Some times a lower one helps. If its defualt it is probably 44,600. You can go lower, I would try yahoo search or google for tempenc forums there out there. Or just plain ole encoding forums.Hope that helps See ya...
