Im so happy I was able to knock my mugen ta bushings in myself today...saved $80!
It was really very easy after I got the right tool...a section of pipe from the hardware store - $3
It fit right onto the bushing and w/ the aid of several large washers, and duct tape to hole them in place, I made myself a little bushing punch.
A few whacks of the hammer later and I have myself an empty hole.
Align mugen bushing...replace bushing punch...whack whack whack...bushing in place.
Good to go!

if youre doing the same bushings just do what i did...it really worked out great.

how do the mugens ride compared to the stock rubbers? How much rougher are they? Do they need constant lubrication like the poly's? Do they also last longer than the stock ones or about the same?

They ride a little firmer than stock and softer than poly (theyre rubber)
They do not need constant lube
They are supposed to last longer than stock on daily driven vehicles due to the fact that the main rubber bushing is encased in a multi-layered covering (also rubber) which prevents overdrying/cracking on the inside. (Duration on competition vehicles are varied, of course)

The main thing is that they cost the same or even less than stock bushings (that you can only order through acura and not honda...dont ask me why) and still provide enough free movement. Whereas the poly's do not have full range and also run the risk of slipping out of place/sliding the pin side to side.

thanks man. SO I take it u love em huh? What spring rates are u running? I had polys on 300F/250R springs and I hated them. They were rough as hell. Currently I am going with 400F/350R for my spring rates. Will mugens be too rough u think? I know polys were not to mention annoying from all the noise.

hmm i never had any problems with the poly ones. and the ride is not that hards on a 350lbs spring (front) because of the bushings, but it is rought because of the 2.5" of suspension travel before you get coil bind. i love the poly :yes:

I know my H&R sport rates are 330f/280r
Koni's set on the softer side most of the time
but even on the stiff end Im sure it wouldnt be that bad at all...even w/ your stiffer springs

If you ask me, I say this is a bushing that shouldve come on the cars straight from honda, not mugen. Its a good upgrade in many ways IMO.

i still like my ride quality with the poly bushings, and i never heard them squeak for the past 2 years that i \had them on my car. i think most of the hondas carry the same size bushing for the strut tower.

I believe thats true too...though I cant say Ive really looked at them.
Certain bushings are fine for poly, that I'll agree with. but the main TA bushings shouldnt be anything other than oe styled. Poly ones can have the pin slide and cause misalignment and they also do not provide enough movenment horizontally or vertically.

I actually threw it away in the trash today (picked up this afternoon)

it was just a section of steel pipe (around 6" long) and 10" circumference. 4-5 washers on top that were the same diamter and taped in place.

I wouldve taken pics earlier if I had known...

Stock and Mugen comparison...notice how the mugen one is thicker and has that covering that encases both sides where the stock unit only has it on the inside of the wheel...which I think is pretty dumb
