im doing a b18c1 swap into my 98 civic, when i got the engine the crank pulley is in bad shape, so i was wondering if i should buy an OEM one or one of those underdrive pulleys (Unorthodox), what the differents in the pulleys? ( i still want to keep pw steering and ac).

oem
underdrive crank pullies are junk...99% of them are not balanced and you can kill your engine that way
(world race motors use stock pullies)

umm the aftermarket pulleys are balanced perfectly, it's that the oem pulleys have the harmonic balancer in them, whcih will kill the engine pretty quick if you rev like crazy

well thats contrary to what ive read
Most of the pulleys Ive seen (AEM,UR,and something else) on a balance wheel are off. I wish I could remember where I saw the article on it... Several pulleys from each manufacturer were tested to show that it was not just a bad pulley.
As the harmonic balancer, yeah they dont have those either.
Not a smart thing for a street car...
This is just one of those things like n2o...some say its evil some say its not....Im on the evil side.

I heard that aftermarket pullies in general are a waste, the only one that does ANYTHING is the crank pully which adds stress to your motor.
BTW< anybody who wants to replace other pullies with AF ones should just remove their ac and save their money.

agree here. harmonic vibrations will rip your engine to pieces in about 30,000 miles
