The drivers side rear suspension is all jacked on this car. The part was cracked when the car slid into a curb. The pictures are shown below, the weld is cracked and the wheel is bent severely because of it.

I would like to know what the specific name is of the part, and if anyone knows where I would be able to get a replacement, and about how much would it cost.

We tried to bolt a brace to it but still no dice.

Id go for the used
mostly, it doesnt see a TON of action other than the daily driver stuff...it'd probably be fine

ok... so the name of the part is a "rear subframe" ?

my options are :

rear suspension
rear trailing arm
rear locating arm

... < = noob

yes, but it is also known as rear crossmember Dont use a site that forces you to use a prefabbed list...call a local place out of your phone book
(be sure to specify rear of the vehicle...MANY people get confused and think front end dealing w/ steering)

it's called a cross beam. you may wanna try the local junkyards, but from what i see it is welded on, not screwed on like the newere civics and accords

well damn so i would probably have to buy a fairly large peice i take it...

would it be easier to grind off the old weld and re-weld it? what type of weldrod would i use on that stuff?

no, you can just buy that piece
(people that run large diameter rear sway bars often break this part and have it replaced)

I really doubt just welding up the tear is going to really fix it, but it would certainly do for a tempory fix as long as you dont do some serious driving/turing.

Isn't this the same piece i fuxed up on my car....?

R u serious that this isn't part of the car? I can just replace it... I thought this was part of the body and that I needed to have it welded back together...?

on those it looks like it's part of the car. on newer ones they are held on to the car with 4 screws

you can replace it, yes.
but it is easier to weld it back up as a temp fix so you can drive it to the jyard to get your new used subframe off another civic

How weird... I'll have to check that out this weekend. If it can be done myself then f*ck taking it anywhere.

if you can weld then you can easily do it w/ the part, a jack, a square or 2, and your welder.

Some say that its bolted, some say its welded...it varies per generation and I dont know enough to say for sure.

on the pre-92's it's welded. 92 and up it's bolted.

So if i get that welded back together is it going to be steady enough for day to day driving? Should i even bother?

yeah it'd be fine. thats the whole point
its only welded around the edges anyways
but if youre still afraid just run so big bolts through the center
