Well, the other night I was driving home and I put my window down in the Civic and, well, it got stuck when I tried to crank it back up. I took the door panel off (keep in mind these are not electric windows) and saw that it had come off the guide that makes sure it is straight when it goes up and down. After battling with it for about two hours I finally got the window up, only thing is that the crank where the handle normally goes is now stripped and the window is not up all the way. I was wondering, how difficult is it to add electric windows? I have seen kits but don't know if it is worth my time. The manual crank that is in there now is useless so I know I would have to get another one just to be able to roll my window up and down... sheeeeeeesh!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for any input and help!!!! Cyber.

Not sure about difficulty, but it would be cheaper to just get another crank. Junkyards will 'em.

I did the same thing in a car I had a while back.

I had problems with both my windows one keep jumping track, and the other went up really slow. so I took them both apart to cleaned and relubed tracks. that helped a little but what really solver the problem was I used some silicone spray on the rubber seals where the windows ride in, and I haven't had any problems sense. that was 6 months ago.

Both of my windows are slower than any other Civic I've ever encountered but my passenger window sooo slow. The driver side window is completely down as the passenger window approaches the half way mark.

silicone spray is the way to prvent this problem guys.
to put power windows in will not solve the problem for long you are probably best off to put in a new window regulator unit as the old one will be bent a little bit.
