OK, I got this idea from one of the guys at www.cb7tuner.com and I wanted to get your opinions on the matter. I was thinking about swapping my stock LX ECU on my 90 5-Speed with one from a 92-93 Accord EX 5-Speed. I was also thinking about swapping my stock intake manifold with one from the 92-93 EX (with f22a6 motor). From what this one guy says, I can gain about 10 hp with this. I have done some research and I can get both the ECU and intake manifold for 275 shipped. Would it be worth it? He says that it will bolt right on, without any mods. I only have 80k on my motor as of now, and I don’t want to do anything that would put the rest of its life in jeopardy. If I was to do this, should I have the manifold taken to a machine shop to have polished before install? Thanks for your input!

the ex one is a dual stage manifold, with 2 intake runners per cylinder as opposed to one as in the dx/lx

is this a good thing? is it worth a swap?

yeah man it seems like a good idea. Easy way to get more peformance out of your motor by using stock parts. id say go for it. And hell yeah get it polished, or paint it.

I am still doing some thinking, I am not sure about this. I mean, is it worth the 250 plus whatever it costs to get it polished for a possible 10 HP? I just dont know...

well i dunno, but i am willing to give it a try  maybe i should try a 94-95 ex ecu. those bastards are good for 145hp. i know some of the wires need to be switched over tho.

EDIT: Scatch the 94-95 ECU idea. i forgot that was VTEC and my car has non of that

Stephan the F22a6 ecu is good up to 140hp you should grab one of those I saw one on ebay not too long ago for cheap or you could just grab one from a junkyard or go here this is where I've been finding my junk yard parts from Car-Part.com It helps you search your local junkyards.

why cant a Vtec intake manifold fit a non-vtec?

none of the 90-93 accords had vtec.

and john i think i already have the ex ecu in it because i have no rev or speed limiter on it. i went to over 130mph a few times.
