i just found out that i got accepted into Mechincal Engineering Technology as well as Aircraft Maintence Engineering Technology for starting in September..but i don't know which one to do?!?! Any ideas?! i'm stressin over it

there isn't difference between mechincal engineering and mechincal engineering technology

i know it sucks..i hate making life decisions. The money is better in MET (mech) than in AMT (aircraft). But i think i would wnat to work on engines rather than analyzing and designing shit....FRICK.i dunno what to do!?!? I need to make a decision this week. Man, it took me long enough to decide on what to apply for!

Money is nice to have but that will only take you so far. So try to not think too much about that. Think about things like the work environment that you would be working in. The engineer would be doing the majority of their work behind a computer or a draft board, indoors, and whatnot. The aircraft mechanic would probably do a lot more hands on tasks and get greasy. Do they have to de-ice planes too?

Also I don't know what kind of school you are going into but if you aren't too sure you might want to keep your classes pretty broad in the first year just to get a feel for what its like. I was an engineering major for about a year, not really enough to know too much about it. In that year I noticed that I really don't have the patience to deal with all the math and the vast majority of the engineering majors are their own breed. You can pick them out of crowd very easily.

Anyway aside from all my bs, basically just look at what each one does day to day and try to figure out which one of those would make you the happiest.

thanks man..that helps alot...the program is 60% hands on and 40% practical for aircraft maintenece..i love working on engines and such and i think i'd rather work hands on then compared to mechincal engineering where i'd be in an office

and I can't really take ANOTHER year to decide. I took a year off after high school. And this year i'm in school and took broad courses but that didn't help that much

I would take the aircraft job. I have a buddy whose dad was a mechanic for aircraft in the air force and is now making 6 figures teaching others how to fix the plane. There is a lot more room for advancement and money with aircraft. Depends on if you have your mind frame set right. If you are damn ready to learn, aircraft will be good. With Aircraft, you will learn all about them and then probably a lot of the other stuff you will learn at the mechanical engineering institute

yeah...i think i'm going with aircraft...its what i applied for last year and never got in becaues its SO popular...infact, at one institute there is no room til 2006...its crazy

My stepdad work for Aircraft Mechanic in Boeing. It because aircraft was most popular than car.
