hey, i just had a question about boosting the CRV motor....the CRV and LS motor seem very similar in that they both don't have Vtec. but the crv motor is a 2 liter and the ls is a 1.8...
so if i had the choice to boost one of them....wouldn't i pick the crv? i mean, its way cheaper, and its a bigger displacment...the only draw back i can think of is that the crv doesn't have as good of head flow as teh ls...simply cause its a fuking SUV motor...but nothing a port job can't fix right? what do you guys think of this?

stock b20 sleeves crack at or right around 7psi
if you resleeve w/ tougher parts then its a good setup
oh, and the ls (b18b) cams are slightly more aggressive than the b20's...the heads are identical
which b20 were you looking at? the b or z?

umm, which would be better? i know teh z has a bit more hp...but yea...
and yea, this would be a race set up, not full, but definately not street legal, lol...so yea, resleeve, and prolly some turbo cams :)

about the only reason the z has a few more hp is because of higher compression
either way, it doesnt matter because youre boosting...
go with whatever one you can get cheaper...b or z
(Actually, I was looking at a b recently)

yea well, lower compression is better for boosting, so yea...the b it is...but yea...its hard to find b20 engine components...do you know any online stores that have a good b20 selection?

the compression on the b is like 8 and the z is 9
either way its fine.....not like its that imporant though...the sleeves are what is going to kill it (at that point of changing those you could make the compression whatever you want with pistons, headgaskets, etc)
hmotorsonline sells good longblocks or try local
youre going to have to use an LS intake minifold though

well then i agree with digs....go with whatever you can get the best deal on...the motors are very similar, i might be inclined to go with the b20 personally.

y0, both those motors are crap, if anything, go with the B18B and boost it, thats the BEST honda motor to turbo.
BTW, my turbo B16 will own all (once i get money :paranoid: )

The ls and the b20 is the same blocks essentially. The only way that the b20 differs is larger bore. The cranks are the same. Ls has 9mm sleeves and b20 has 7mm.
Pistons and headgasket are different thicknesses.
Heads are identical, valvetrain is different.
Seriously, if you can get a super cheap b20 shortbock, and a ls head (both can be obtained separately for less than a b20 longblock) you'd really be set. Take the money you saved over most motors to resleeve it for boost over 6psi. Slap on a gsr tranny and biggitybam...awesome-ness.

actually the B20 head flows more than the B18 head. Its the intake and throttle body that are the restrictive parts of the B20 setup.

people are making 250-300whp on stock LS motors arent they? what are people making on stock crv motors?

probably similar hp #'s
a lot more torque
but the sleeves wouldnt last
honda_ten: where did you see the b20 head flows more? do you have a chart? Theyre both p75's
