hmm...I'd have to say the best way to keep ur car from getting broken into is just leave it in a parking lot at night so nobody can go near it and will always be under someones sight...i bought my "2 way pager" car alarm off ebay...it came out to $111 including shipping...it works really well and the little screen tells me wat part of my car is being hit or touched...not that i really needed it b/c my car has never been parked in the street without me standing next to it but anyways, if u'd like to see the alarm i bought i'd be more than happy to show u the auction and the ebayer that sold it to me, he has a bunch of them on ebay for sale...

A very large, ripped man named Bubba...

Any security system is more or less good...just dont buy one of those crappy one wire installation "current sensing" alarms, its garbage. If you've ever done any stereo installation then you can install your own alarm, too.

Well...I most certainly don't know how to install anything in my car...but I can figure out how to fix stuff...I would like to know about that pager thing on ebay...that would be kool...
I know there are different brands of speakers and subs...what are some good brands??

well if you dont have too much money to spend then I'd go with the always reasonable priced pioneer speakers...they dont cost a lot and sound great...but kicker, polk and mb quart are good as well...as for subs my number one company is kicker...i have 2 kicker L7S12 solobarics in my trunk hooked up to a Hifonics Brutus 1000watt mono amp and they hit hard...but like u said u wanna go fast in ur civic so i wouldnt get too crazy with a system cuz ur just gonna add more weight to ur car...

I had a pager alarm system for like a day, then I took it out cause it sucked...although installed correctly I'm sure they work well.

also, PLEASE learn how to install stuff in your own car. Theres nothing that annoys me more than people who want a modified car, but dont want to do any of the work. not to insult you personally, but just try to do something yourself...you'll feel a lot better about something when you can say you did it yourself.

ok if you know under hood stuff, then I'll let the electronics go...I just thought you were a "let someone else do everything to my car" person...

I retract my previous post.
