Just trying to hit 350 at the wheels for now. I want to build my internals too. My goal is to have a low 12's to high 11's on the 1/4. I would settle for 13's until I get a house tho. Plus once I hit 13's, I will get my interior redone and have the car repainted to either mustang green or FBP. Not to mention that I also want some Tein SS or Ground Control "Full" coilovers. How's your project coming along?

Okay, I sold my tube and fin 31x10x2.6 custom intercooler since I picked up a Spearco 30x10x3 bar and plate for only $300! Shit go for over $400 even on ebay .

I also received more GReddy stuff. Since I got ripped off on my GE oil conveter plate, I ordered and received the GReddy version today, along with the GE block guard. I just need to pick up my oil lines locally and shell out another $200 for a cometic 3mm head gasket. Funds are tight. I have to slow down or I will not have money for dyno tuning.....

I'm actually thinking of moving the EGT and A/F peak and hold gauges somewhere else. I bought a 60mm GReddy boost gague in black. I didnt want it to sit by itself so I plan on getting another black GReddy 60mm gauge to have a feeling balance. I think I will just place the EGT and A/F ratio gauges below or above my head unit. Thanks for the compliment

I still cant find time to install the actual turbo parts.... it's okay tho, I'm waitin on the oil lines and another GReddy gauge anyway.
Here are some pics I took today. I've decided to move my EGT and A/F gagues to the center. Boost gague and oil temp will take those two spots:

I think that black gagues will work better to match the 2 other black gauges. The silver ones will be in the center:

Got this done today:

http://www.imgmag.org/images/thermal99/p1010006.JPG

Still waiting for a black 60mm GReddy oil temp gauge, which will fill up that hole where the dimmer used to be. I ran all the wires through the firewall already. The boost gague is functional, but only readys vacuum of course until the turbo goes in. The fuel pressure gauge is functioning now as well.

thermal
02-15-2004, 09:25 PM
Well I started the turbo install today.... Have a few problems that I have to solve first. More stuff I had to order to include a slim radiator fan the will be a pusher (mounted on the front of the radiator instead of back). I was planning on pulling of the head off to install the blockguard and cometic head gasket but my buddy could not make it on time. I got excited so I started test fitting the turbo itself. The biggest problem is the turbo and manifold. My manifold will not flange flushed against the exhaust port because of the manifold itself seems a bit too short for a T4 compressor. The compressor is already against the block even after shaving a small area of it. I do have a solution. In order for me to make the set up fit, I will have to "sandwich" another exhaust flange in between the turbo manifold and the exhaust port. This will push the turbo assembly away from the block about 1/2 inch and have about 3/8 inch clearance. Of course I will also have to upgrade to a longer studs/bolts. I didnt wnat to take a picture until I fix the problem. It's all good tho. I already ordered the stuff I need to fix my problem. This is another week set-back which I really dont mind. i dont want to rush into this and mess up the whole set-up. I'm being patient. Pics to come soon.

In the mean time, friends are always stopping by all the time. I'm mostly doing all this by myself. Alot of people just watch but are willing to lend a hand if needed.......

Major change of plans. I've decided to do it right. I'm confident on tearing B-series engines apart now. So this is what I plan to do:
-Leave the internals stock for a few months and boost 8 psi with a tuned Hondata S200b. I'm gonna shit can the 3mm headgasket and block guard idea and do it right. I've decided to save up and build the engine up with eagle rods and wiseco pistons......and possibly resleeve it. I know that with the help of a few close friends, we can do the build-up our own...except the sleeving part. I want to max out my turbo and kick my HP goal to 450-500HP by next winter at the latest.... next summer. My suspension is blown, so the Tein SS still must go in. I think it just all depends on what my financial status after buying my house. It will be worth the wait....that I'm sure of.....

Turbo Teg Update:
-The engine is pretty much put together on stock form. I installed and connected most of my GReddy gauges. The GReddy oil filter "sandwich" made it all easy for me to get some of my sensors rigged. I installed the RC 550cc saturated injectors which pretty much included the OBD1 injector clip conversion. Walbro255 LPH is in place as well. The new slim 16" radiator came in. I installed it and rigged it act as a "pusher". So now, I have a big ass radiator fan in front of the full Fluidyne radiator. Waiting for another B-series exhaust flange to get the manifold installed. Come Friday, I will go ahead get the intercooler brackets welded. Then the pipe fitting will commence........

Yo thermal how much are u boosting?

thermal
03-23-2004, 09:30 PM
Black, I dont have a C5 brotha'. JDM ITR is stamped "B18C" only. no number after the "C". 11:1 compression ownzzz. I cant turn up the boost...maybe 10 at the dyno......

Dzur, I'm broke....trust me.....

MAXed, the wastegate is set at .5 bar (7.25 psi).

I got the car started today. I made 2 runs and dayyyyyyyyymmmm.... this Teg moves! I ran it without the DP. Loud as fukkkkk!!!! On my second run, for some reason my gas pedal got stuck all the way down and the rev got stuck to 9000 RPM. Good thing Hondata still has a limiter and I was in the middle of shifting so the engine was not in gear. Otherwise, I may have blown the engine up ;(.

Lastly, the turbine housing flange bolt fucking came off. I dont know why . When it came off, it scared the fuk out of me. I thought I blew up my engine. I found the flange on the side of the road...luckily. I'm gonna need to pull the turbo out and get it reassembled. No biggie. I always expect problems initially on any turbo install that I do anyway. I just wont be able to get my DP made tomorrow.

....then a cop came. he said that there were complaints that I was making noises. I explained to him that my throttle cable got stuck (which it did) that is why the noise was loud. He didnt give me shit. It seemed that he understood. He took a glimpse at my car and saw the hood was popped open. I was polite the whole time. I might hear something from my landlord about this. Hopefully they'll understand......

Hondata with boost option (S200b) cost me $475. Base B18C turbo map is another $60 but credited for my dyno time

....Found the problem why my car would jump to 9000 RPM...... see, this is why I dont need people's help sometimes.

Anyway, spearco intercooler usually comes with plastic end plugs/caps for the in/outlet pipe. Whoever installed my outlet piping forgot to remove the plastic cap and just slap the piping and connectors on. I had this awkwward feeling all day that it was that fucking plastic.... and so it was. The bitch was stuck on my TB. It's too late at night to run the Teg. I will do it tommorow. All I can say is that, it really doesnt matter now. Thanks everyone! The best part was, even my tuner was suprised! He owned the second ever Hondata and has been tuning Hondatas since then. Before we started, he said that I should be around 240-250. I think he said that so i dont get my hopes up. Towards the end, he said that he can push it even more since it was still making power. Review my dyno sheet and the power curve was still going up. He said he can take it up to 320 whp but we both agreed that even with the best tuning and optimum A/F and spark combo, the internals may still give up. I'm extremely satisfied tho.......
