Well, its new years. So, ive decided that with the cooperation from others, such as AzCivic, Cashizslick, etc. That maybe instead of trying to prove which motor platform is best, we can agree to disagree. So, upon feedback, i might even remove my signature quote. I love my B, others love their B's. But i realized...who knows what woulda happened if i had a lower mileage motor and put some high compression pistons in the D. Etc Etc.
*manly handshake gesture, non homo erotic etc*
and by the way, Az, our cars are very similar. Brotherhood. lol

well, why do you think the b16 is better?
BTW my argument only pertains to those who want to swap out a perfectly good engine, even if it needs a little TLC.

Why oh why do I soooo badly want to just close/delete this thread...wait, better idea.....
I'll let the other mods see what I have dealt with for weeks on end - > poinltess arguement

:burys face in hands:
damnit this was supposed to be the oppostie. I.e. Truce. Pdiggity ill delete it myself if problem arises. I was basically tryna clear up all the animosity and tension by admitting that neither is better. gah why do i suck at everything.
to be honest with you. If my motor didnt have 220,000 miles on it and reandomly explode, i would still have a D series. The whole reason for swapping was because i had a car that was sitting in a garage for a week because it died.
as my car sits, a turb d series would hand me my ass
a d series on a 75 shot, would hand me my ass
a d series with 12:1 compression would, yes, hand me my ass.
that does no make me wrong for swapping, circumstances led me to do so. But also, the point of me posting this is not to stir up arguement, but instead to let the D series kids know i do not think a D series is pointless. In fact, Az is right on a lot of points. You can make a D faster for less money than a swap costs, if your D is in good shape. (see above examples) Some people who have D's that would rape me include Thermal and OC civic. They spent less money building their respective D series than i did swapping. however, they had a good motor under the hood when they started. Mine was blown up and car didnt run. Fluids everywhere, problems everywhere. It was a good little soldier, and was on its last leg when i bought it because it was owned by a ricer who ran it hard daily before i came along.
So, this thread is basically an Oprah show, and im sorry for being an ass and belittling the D undeservingly.
this one goes to me:

Ha ha ha...nonov is gonna jump on your ass too. although, I do understand what your intentions are.
My thoughts since I own both:
Depending on the approach and plan you want to execute on the motor. Either/or has potential depending on the purpose. I know somebody down the street from my crib who has a fully built B16 (basically a 1.7) who dynoed at an ass slapping 616.7whp/374.3 ft-lb torque 28psi and runs 11.2@132mph with boost turned down. Cant get traction.
Alot people dont understand how much power that is. Over 250whp on the ground is pretty hard to control, especailly on a light car with street tires.... and guess what, 250whp is achievable on a D16.
I think we can all agree that no matter what motor, providing ample r&d, money, time, and right parts, we can achieve our goal. I have been asked so many times as to why I didnt just do an engine swap from completely capable peak running D16 with low mileage to a used B16 with unknown condition instead of running the turbo kit. I dont even answer them anymore....

Ok...that's just sad. Traction or no you should be able to pull at least a 10 second pass our of the car with over 600hp. Hell...my original engine combo (smaller intake, cam, and slightly smaller heads) netted me around 530hp and i was still running high 10's in a heavier car. And what's up with that torque? HP by itself gets you nowhere...gotta have a torque little b!tch to get you down the track and out of the corners.
But I digress...from what admittedly little I know of Honda motors, I'd stick with a B-series motor. That is...if I ever owned a Honda.

omg... 362hp/liter
is this guy named jesus christ? cuz that would be the ride he'd be in :)
as for that being a slow time, my 240 wouldn't break into the low 12's and i was pushing mid 400hp and high 3's in the tq dept, there just isn't much you can do without having a full drag setup to put that power on the ground. bet he and i woulda had a great race though if i turned my boost up(those numbers were at 16psi, supposedly i should have been able to do up to 28 without worrying about anything, at least that is what tomei claims).
can i be different and say i love the k motors?

you are all wrong. f22a1 owns ya all ;) j/k but i would have rebuilt the "lonely old d series" engine for less than the price of the swap

The dude is like 300 lbs too and that was on street tires. But I'm not making excuses. I know that he can do better and hit 10's for sure. This is also one of the disadvantages of a Honda. Front drive and torquelessness.
