Just read an interesting article in on of the bigger Ford mags that said (in a cover story, no less) that the guys at Ford have designed a new V10 Mustang motor. It's essentially a 4.6L with 2 more cylinders (displacing 351 cubic inches and wearing "Boss 351" decals) that's apparently been trolling the streets around Detroit for over a year. Running at 426hp and running high 11's with very little tuning I'm seriously hoping this thing sees production. Maybe this doesn't seem like a huge deal to you Honda guys, but imagine what would happen if Honda came out with a production model V8. I love horsepower wars.

GT40FIED,
Although I hate the way mustangs look, that would be a pretty sweet little car.
I also hope it sees production.
Ford also recently released their supercar.

honda(acura) needs to make a RWD v8 powered luxury car, why do they insist on having the crappy FWD v6's! stupid Honda.

Actually it's silver with a '00 Cobra R hood (it's the car they used as a test mule when originally developing the 5.4L DOHC R motor). The pictures make it look absolutely sick. The engine looks right at home (it's only 4" longer than the stock 4.6L).
I've love to see Honda make a V8 car...any V8 car...doesn't have to be a sports car. I'd just like to see a little interest on their part in power. The S2000 motors are top shelf but everything else is pretty run of the mill. They need to kill the NSX (the worst bang for the buck car in history...$90,000 for 280hp? F@cking ridiculous) and start a new higher-end sports car with a HONDA badge on it. I'm with you guys...I'd love to see a turbo'ed V6 AWD Honda. That'd school some shit hardcore.

must've been something else i saw then
I dont know...I think the nsx is just right.
well balanced and honda reliability
doing an awd turbo 6 would definately put honda back on track with people and the whole sport compact world that theyve somewhat lost to other comanies. Problem is, most, if not all, but the c30/2, of honda's 6's arent really made to go that fast...they might want to concider something new altogether
An all new tranny at the very least...
Ive seen some really badass euro awd civics with built turbo b20vtec's...but thats about as good as a civic can get imo

well honda's focus is on clean air, clean cars, reliability and some shit i don't remeber right now. there are 1.8l turbo accords in europe, awd accord inspires in japan ( awd 3.2TL wagons)it seems that U.S is getting the shaft again.

I heard honda might be possibly putting a v8 into their RL line up sooner or later. Not sure how true the rumour is, but that would be nice. And yes, honda needs somethign for the average joe that's fast, like the wrx sti type of deal.

you realize the NSX handles like a CART car over 100 MPH even though it is significantly underpowered. it's not always about going fast in a straight line. Honda is the "green team" their theory is why in god's name would we build a V8 when we can get the power out of a V6??

My car has actually beat an NSX around a road track (though not by much...just over a second). It might not handle quite as well, but with the suspension mods to my car and the considerable power advantage, it exits corners cleanly and quickly. An NSX is a considerable force in the handling dept., but a car with that kind of potential could certainly use a boost in power. Think how much more desireable it would be with that kind of handling and a 400hp small displacement V8 doing the work. Hell...if nothing else, for $90K it NEEDS a V8.

doesn't need a V-8, just a comptech blower

That would certainly help...but I've only seen 1 NSX equipped with the Comptech blower and it was running around 400hp. Now that's not by any means bad, but I can go out and buy an '03 Cobra for just over $30K which puts out over 400hp (factory rated at 390hp but have routinely put down 380+ at the wheels) and throw $10K-$15K into the suspension and make it handle just as well or better for just about half the price. The only thing I can think of that's a worse bang-for-the-buck deal is the Shelby Series 1. Now...I know Shelby's better than this...sticking a 300hp Oldsmobile V8 into an AC Cobra wannabe body and charging around $100K for it. Throw in the blower option and you're looking well north of $100K for a car that handles at best lukewarm. But the NSX needs some serious power upgrades if Honda/Acura really want it to be a "supercar".
