you need a new motor. Your block probably cracked because the engine changed temp. to quickly. That can mess up other things and it all should be replaced.

cracked blocked=**** MAJORLY. been there.

there are many reasons why a motor can crack. such as driving way to hard, blown headgasket and driving with it, driving a cold engine, fried piston rings which leads to blown headgasket......

either way you have to get a new motor completely. sure you could by a block, but i suggest just buying a new motor.

what makes you think the block is cracked anyway?

a simple test to see if you have a blown head gasket is to see if theres oil in your antifreeze, we do it all the time in my autotech class. Or do a dry compression test. Blown Gasket or cracked block will make compression drop majorly.....

^true. also blown headgasket push the antifreeze out around the radior cap.

If the block is cracked the symptoms are a lot like a blown gasket, excepta compression test will usually reveal one cylinder way low (this can happen with a gasket too, but not usually). You'll sometimes find coolant in the oil if the crack is near a water jacket or a good sized split. Trust me...it's generally not a pretty sight. The engine that came with my car (a stock 302) was on it's last leg and after a few small mods and some hard charging, I literally ventilated the block when one of the rods decided it didn't like the way I was treating it (turned out it was a shoddy rebuild done years ago that the guy who owned it before me, the second owner, didn't know about). A huge mess of oil and coolant. Once a block is cracked, even a small crack, it needs to be replaced as many others have pointed out. You still haven't mentioned what makes you think your block is shot.

i was jsut over his house yesterday look at it, i think its the gasket, i didnt notice any major external crack, but who knows me be internal, its sounds like its bogging out and the exhuast smells sweet so its burning antirfreeze, i mostly think its the gasket and so does he, he should be posting soon to tell everything
