I love the New 350Z.
I'd buy it and slap on an ingen intake and their new SES exhaust (with straight tips) for starters. http://www.eautoworks.com/html/ord-auto~performance-Injen~Exhaust~System-1-14722.htm

i'd wait for the new legacy GT  or the wrx STi. even the Forester 2.5XS is a great car: 13.8 secs in the 1/4 stock

Yall aint got no love for the Z?
The Z is sick - it looks sick, is sick, sounds sick, and puts out more power than every car listed cept' the STI.

What is your classification of new?
There are a lot of nice things that are relatively new under 35 thousand.

Not many choices, but out of them a 350z... I think there sick. I'd love to have the horsepower and awd of a WRX or evo. But man!! I love the 350z.

I picked WRX with the intention of it meaning WRX STI.....but the choices are too limited. For < 35k my favorite "new" car definitely wouldn't be on this list.....new meaning not used, doens't have to be a new model or redesign.
I'd watch out with tuning a 350Z, they're pretty well tuned from the factory. I've got one of the SCC's or something where they tried to hack one up and most of the mods did more harm than good. But perhaps people have come up with ways to get more out of it by now? This was done when it first was out, so not the best research had been done yet.

Here is solid proof that the Z has much more power potential
http://300zxstore.com/in35exsseni3.html
I know the article you are reffering to - they made a custom exhaust and it lost power like most custom ones do.
IMO - Injen SES, Invidia, and Apexi all make sick Z exhausts.

HMMMM... I'm not sure which one I like best;)
The 350z stock airbox is ideal as it is a pressurized ram-air style intake with very unrestrictive piping. Oil filters such as K&N have caused the MAF to get oily so most people just leave the intake stock, and people that have bought intakes normally resell them a few days after they buy them. As for exhaust, the Injen is sick but the angled tips are ugly, hope the straight tips will produce as much power. Most of the clogged power of the Z is on the exhaust side. Nissan detuned the exhaust for better emissions ratings (Z is a LEV). High-flow cats and exhaust have netted over 20rwhp, but for that $1100, I'll save it for somethin else;) .

That's definitely an impressive gain from each individually, and even more from them being combined.
I'd rather see them on a G35 though.
How many HP does that spray bottle add? ;)

Ship me some cash and I'll do all the mods you want me to:yes: .
The thing is... for the cost of FI for my car, I could buy an old 240z and drop either an LS1 or 350 in there AND setup the suspension/LSD/etc etc... would be a MUCH faster combo and I would keep my 350 warrantied

Im only messin with you Highlander.
But ya, a chevy small block in a 240z would be sick.
