first off what is the exact code for a vtec D17. Will a D17 engine mount onto the transmition for a D16z6. does it use the same engine mounts as a 95 civic ex? how does an OBD3 engine hook up to an OBD1 car? does the ECU plug right in or do i need to modify the harness to fit.
basically, is this an easy swap.

d17a1 - dx,lx
d17a2 - ex
no the trannies are different and not compatible (as far as I have read and know)
mounts are definatley different
changing obd is a lot of wiring issues - when swapping it is highly recommended to stay within your obd
no the ecu will not fit, you will need a CUSTOM adapter because no one makes that style
no it is an involved swap with basically crappy results
Are you in need of a new engine? Just get another d16z6 if thats the case...or a b series

B series all the way. Get a killer B.

I'd say go with the B.... But if you still want a SOHC, I still have my old D17a2 Engine (VTEC) sitting at my car team president house. Full engine, tranny, ECU, radiator, subframe, air conditioning, the whole front clip basicallly. My friend who works for SF right by my house, has a stock d17a2 with the SF turbo kit. He is running high 13's. Not bad! Soon he will be running 12's, but that is not part of the kit. If interested send me a message.

Plus, the D16 has mad parts available for it, its OBD 1 and a real simple swap if you dont have much much money.
